2080ti - Black Blinking Screen and Horizontal Flickering Lines

So after some time of use, my screen goes black and comes back.

When I can see the desktop I might get the odd flicker of a horizontal line, sometimes a thick line of noise.

It was particularly bad just now, so I opened up heavens benchmark - graphics card was about 50c, and the black screen was frequent (every few seconds)

Once I restart the PC it clears.

GPU Ram problem? or something else.

it's been like this for a few months, but I just restarted the PC to clear it.

Did you try another cable I had one go bad on me,lucky I had a spare.
The card may not be seated correctly,or even a driver problem.

Maybe I should try using a PCI-riser so it isn't mounted horizontally.

Cable breaking down most likely, like clone says. What monitor is it hooked up to and what connections HDMI, DP.

It being horizontal shouldn't make a difference, unless it's sagging badly which means it could need reseating in it's PCI-E slot.

Hooked up to a Dell UW3417

Just swapped the DP to Mini DP cable for a decent HDMI one.

And it flickered on the old cable using DP AND still flickers now you have swapped to HDMI?

Hasn't happened again yet, will have to see how it goes.

Restarting always clears the problem, and it might not even happen again now for a day or two.

Problem has not repeated, so good chance it was the cable. thanks!
