Car stolen now recovered - insurance options - am i being fobbed off??

HI all, small update. Have had the car back now for about 3 weeks. No damage that could be seen. Health check was clear at main dealer, drives as it did. Best of all, we dont feel nervous having it back on the drive, and it still feels like our car again which is good. Disklok now on, keys in RF pouch and box, and another small deterrent added.
Im fully aware if they want the car again they will take it, but as others have said - im not going to make it easy.
Appreciate all the replies in this thread. :)

I remember having both my Series 1 & 2 Escort RS Turbo's being stolen back in the day - on separate occasions, I didn't own both at the same time - and was relieved when they were recovered! Alas, this happened more than once and ultimately they both eventually were stolen again and never recovered.

How I wish I'd still got either, especially the series one!

7500, and probably because it was easy. They probably only wanted to sell the alloys, and the radio for a quick buck.
Can you even sell radios anymore? I thought they were coded to the car, and its not like the old days where you have either single or double din. Now it's only going to fit the same model. Wouldn't have thought nicking a car for that little would be worth it. Is the op sure he didn't get smashed and leave it somewhere:p.

yeah coded radios recoded and chassis numbers changed in the sets just a bit more complicated but easy enough with the right equipment.


but i doubt the thieves would go to the time to remove the set its the damage they cause if they try, wheels ,panels even lights etc easy stuff they can sell unless its being chopped up, used to get loads a few years back used to play guess the car with the local coppers when sent out to fetch the bits in :)

in fact a few years ago i was repairing a earlier mondeo and a guy was advertising panels for sale in the auto trader (nottingham if i remember) when i rang he asked what colour i needed......when i told him he said he didnt have any but was sure he could get them later and to ring back the next day.....i didnt bother :)

I lost my MK1 XR2 in a similar way, I loved the RS turbo, the turbo seemed to smooth out the CVH engine.

It did indeed, I remember CVH being referred to as Chronic vibrations and harshness which wasn’t far from it, the turbo units were very much smoother from memory.

I drove a G plate series 2 recently and was surprised by how much slower it was than I remember - don’t go back to an ex is the analogy I guess :D

I had a sapphire Cosworth that scrotes kept trying to steal. Ended up rewiring the fuel pump and removing the fuse and relay and eventually the ECU also. Better than any clifford or toad alarm i ever fitted to it. Did not stop them from trying to steal it but they could never get it going.
