Hi so even in the off posistion water comes through the valve

this is for a pond filter
I noticed that the pipe work attached to the valve is glued on

i was thinking i could possibily put some type of end cap on the valve?

any other options to stop the water?

Glue another gate valve on to the end, they're £15 on ebay.

Ok i think u mean buy just one gate valve
Then glue it on the end
So i end up with two gate valves and hopefully the 2nd one will work

It's probably leaking due to crud built up in it stopping it closing properly. Take it off and give it a good clean. Might solve the problem without replacing anything.

I looked inside the valve and felt it

I beleive the plastic has detoriated and no longer closing creating a tight seal, its prob been there 30 years +

what did u mean by crud buildup btw?

There’s a compression joint where the black pipe goes into the grey/white section.

Measure the external diameter of the place pipe and get a new ball valve (as suggested above) to suit, a short length of the same diameter pipe and some suitable PVC pipe cement.

If you completely want to blank it off, take the whole section off at the compression fitting near the filter and replace it with a blanking plug.

https://www.screwfix.com/p/floplast...OKZS0Aom_mtVWQSgyCIaAt0VEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

that's prob the cheapest option tbh :_)

I just need to make sure that the pipe is extended a bit so that the water drains off outta my garden. I think the best thing to do here is to take that section out and pop to screwfix or a pond place to see what'll fit there.
its been a nightmare fixing some of these leaks.
