what motherboard did you buy for your alderlake cpu.

I was deciding on the Maximus hero but ended u getting the Auros Master

I like the VRM heatsinks, backplate & overall decide a bit more and its £100 less (irrespective of the cash back offer)

Master has 19+1+2 phase and Maximus Hero has 20+1 - So with regards to that I don't think they are that much different.

I'd be tempted to get the formula with the cashback but still can't justify 100 more.

Did you buy a new mobo/alderlake also? if so which one

ASUS are doing a cashback offer on Z690 and 12th Gen CPU combo's.
OCUK is in participating retailer list.

I went TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS D4 and brought a separate Wi-Fi 6E card because It will fit my Ek CPU block I want to keep my 4133 ddr4 as I don't think DDR5 is going to be that amazing till the Z790's come out and of course £75 quid rebate

Initially was going to go with a Strix and the consensus was the E variant. Heard a few people mention the Hero. Then saw that all the Press Kits sent by Intel were 12600k's and 12900K's with Maximus Hero's so its obvious Intel would prefer reviewers use the Hero's for the Benchmarking tests. My rationale is that Intel would want to show-off their 12900K in the best possible light so if the Hero is good enough for them its good enough for me.....either that or its simply co-sponsorship/collusion between Intel and Asus to promote this particular board and I fell for it!! LOL. No matter, I was looking for a way to rationalise a higher end board anyway. LOL.

Just as well they are doing this offer, as the early adopter premium is high.
Obviously the mark-up is far higher on the Maximus boards.
Good boards, but I certainly do not want to pay those kind of prices though.

The Z690 TUF with the rebate isn't too bad, so I'll see how that board reviews.

AMD owners like myself will be trying to gauge if the price of the CPU and motherboard change is actually going to be worth doing at this time, knowing that we still could have a worthwhile upgrade option to come in Q1.
I'm certainly leaning towards waiting this out.

Purchased the ASUS ROG Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4 myself.
Think I made a mistake TBH, as wanted to keep my 64GB DDR4, but then the resale value of the motherboard and RAM will be effected next time I upgrade.

Does anyone here know of the double holed CPU bracket on the ASUS boards?
Only information, I can find online is that you can use your existing Intel bracket on the motherboard without the need for a new bracket for the socket.
But ASUS also stated that this will only be supported by certain coolers, however I can't find any information online which coolers are supported.
I currently have the Corsair Hydro 115i RGB Platinum cooler, but Corsair are being incredibly slow on getting the retrofit kit available.

Be careful with mounting pressure !

Lga1200 holes are nice but ASUS AIO were designed in mind for them , even though you have one OEM making kits for various venders .

Corsair and partners should get out the brackets as fast as they can. Few also receiving boards as extra support !

Keep aye out on Kitguru/OC3D/eTeknix etc as they have TUF DDR4 along with TechNotice .

Me too. I'm building a "white" themed system, but I'm thinking having the mobo also all white might be overkill... the Hero black might look really cool in the middle as a contrast. Plus, the hero design is super sharp, love it.

Looks like mobos may well arrive imminently. Just redownloading mobo drivers having changed mobo order to Gigabyte and note that Gigabyte added the drivers and documents on the 2nd November so mega last minute. I imagine shipping will start from today as it's release day to retailers.

Could be a sign of not long to wait...
