I noticed today and Microsoft have removed support for Windows Mixed Reality devices from Windows 11 24H2 onwards, this doesn't affect all headsets, but will affect some for sure.

Windows Mixed RealityWindows Mixed Reality is deprecated and will be removed in Windows 11, version 24H2. This deprecation includes the Mixed Reality Portal app, Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR, and Steam VR Beta. Existing Windows Mixed Reality devices will continue to work with Steam through November 2026, if users remain on their current released version of Windows 11, version 23H2. After November 2026, Windows Mixed Reality will no longer receive security updates, nonsecurity updates, bug fixes, technical support, or online technical content updates.

This deprecation doesn't affect HoloLens. We remain committed to HoloLens and our enterprise customers.

It's bad how MS have in effect abandoned support for many VR headset owners, I owned a Reverb G2 for a while in 2022 iirc, very good vr hmd imo I bet there are many people still using them and other hmd's who are going to be affected by this.

This will never happen. Yes there is a linux project called Monado and that kind of works with the Reverb G2 but it needs a lot of tricking around with to get working.

And It will be like most other Linux VR projects, it will never come to windows.

I hope I am wrong.

Boooo, Hope you are wrong.
Have to say much as I still love my G2 I got a PSVR2 for PC recently and because of this and aside from the obvious OLED vs LCD differences, I now find the G2 incredibly dim compared to the PSVR2.
I believe the G2 is only 150nits panel brightness whereas the PSVR2 is roughly double that I think. Makes such a massive difference coupled with OLED black levels and colour superiority. I only use the G2 for MSFS now, as the clarity is still way better which is needed in flight sims.

To indulge my VR home room/environment obsession I picked up a Lenovo explorer for cheaps off ebay. Although not stated in the listing, the condition is 'as new' and even came with fresh batteries. I'll set it up on a fresh install of windows and dump a clone of the drive on the interwebs, before M$ kills it.
