I would say if you have to ask other people if they should be allowed, the answer is no.

Not age appropriate imo, 9 is still quite young...It's tough if his friends are doing it because no kid wants to be left out of what everyone else is doing... but I bet not all of them are playing it, and they'll move onto something more age appropriate in time.

Alpha move is to get him Stardew Valley instead and he can mog them all with a delightful island, and eventually influence them into joining him.
