Cloned my Windows 11 nvme drive to use on a new nvme drive and i am getting boot blue screen with error code 0xc000000e. Windows Repair doesn’t work, just boot loops me.

Capacity of old and new drive is the same 1TB. Both drives were in the machine when cloned. Acronis instructions were followed as well. I initially tried it with an external dongle adapter but that kept failing.

Any ideas?

I would try Macrium reflect and see what happens. Free version can still be got online.

Thanks, will give it a whirl tonight.

I tried CMD prompt using the MBR and bootrec fixed to no avail too. Even though the bootrec /fixboot said it was successful.

Yeah i have had loads of issues
With acronis
Even though i got it free with my nvme drive
Binned it and went back to macrium

I’ll try Macrium tonight then, it’s a shame as the process was quite smooth up until that point.

Is Macrium cloning free?

They scrapped their free version and went paid but you can still download and use the free version but I do not think its on their website anymore so you may have to get it else where

Edit, I think I have the free version somewhere, do you want me to upload it somewhere for you to download?

Can still use the free version
Just won't get support or product updates
Couple of the guys are hosting free version
In the useful free software section of the forums
Though you'll be able to find it
Using Google anyway

You can also try Hasleo Backup Suite if you're having problems getting or using Macrium free version.

Thank you all, got Macrium to work properly. Drive cloned and works like a charm! It did error out on first boot but a quick restart and it's fine. Restarted a few more times as well as a few power down cycles and still good :D

Just as a belt and braces approach here, but I would use CrystalDiskInfo to check the drive health and ensure you are running the latest firmware for the new drive also. Good you got it sorted but!

That's the first thing i did when the drive booted correctly. Checked both hwinfo and crystaldiskinfo and reports 100% health thankfully! I'm under embargo so i can't post what im testing very soon!

it's weird, i don't know what it is but in the past it worked fine. I've used Acronis several times before with success so no idea what it is this time that's different.

Not tried cloning in a few years
As got loads of Macrium image backups
So I just load those
Plus can load those off usb rescue
With only 1 drive when cloning wouldn't be
An option

But anyway
Last time I had any sort of issue
Was years ago and was caused by windows
From memory (admittedly dodgy lol)
Microsoft changed something to do with how
VSS worked (volume shadow copy service)
So it's not unfeasible it is a windows issue somehow
And that it could affect 1 cloning software or more
But not others
Depending how they work

That usually means there's something important like the Windows Boot Manager still on the original drive which is then pointing to the new drive. Remove the old drive, and there's nothing pointing the system to the boot drive. There are ways to move the boot manager, but it's just easier to make sure you do a full clone with all partitions and check in disk management that windows correctly id's the boot drive. Unplugging all other drives and making sure you're on the first interfaces/devices stops windows putting important files in the wrong place.

What manufacture is the drive?

Samsung drives can use Samsung Magician to clone with and it's a doodle.
