3700x upgrade to 5600x for games? Or 5700x3d?

If you have the budget and can find one, the 5700X3D is more suitable for a higher-end graphics card and would max out the socket. You'd be set then until whenever, maybe AM6.

The 5600X is still better than the 3700X for gaming, but this upgrade would not make sense for productivity.

5700x3d anyday
While they are great CPUs the problem is that they are out of production and used prices have risen quite dramatically recently, probably exasperated by people who normally would have moved to AM5 now deciding to stick with AM4 due to the insane ram prices.

The demand Nvidia cards put on the CPU and system isn’t helping. Not to mention AM4 has probably been looking super attractive to DDR4 13/14 gen user's recently and for AM4 users an X3D chip is drop in upgrade offering pretty stellar gaming performance all the way back to a 2017 X300 chipset.

DDR5 pricing is just one factor of many why AM4 X3D parts are in demand but there are many reasons why someone would need an 5800X3D chip, but the main one is to get the most graphics performance possible out of their current system.
