people are being abandoned by their government and replaced by AI basically... its like super migration with invisible ghost workers, but the new ghost workers don't pay any taxes or benefit the local economy at all/

Electric, water
GPU's CPUs. Memory, SSDs,

Apparently the price of ram more than doubled in 2 months.

Now think about all the parts of life that only exist because of computers and data centres, think about how much stuff you use in life relies on them.
Now imagine those things all getting more and more unaffordable as AI ramps up the price of the infrastructure they need to function...


NHS is about to get massively expensive, any use of AI is about to get massively expensive.

there's basically a monopoly forming and they basically have the source of everything society needs monopolised with them always at the front of the queue.


why would you ever sell computer related stuff to the NHS etc if google, apple, etc are all sitting them with unfillable demand and mountains of cash?

AI is literally at the current implementation going to cause human misery and degradation in quality of life, people should already see it around them if they open their eyes.



It's not going to make our lives any better, its going to make them far worse, it;s just became another tool to increased the wealth gap between the few and the many.

It's only ever going to get worse.

also AI explains the prices of consoles not coming down over time like previous generations,. the demand for capacity increases prices to much GG

NVDA is basically at TSMC doors with an order they can never fufill, with more money than anyone else can offer.

so things like XBOX have to bid a lot higher for any capacity and we all know wafer capacity is limited.

The machines needed to ramp up production literally take years to manufacture


AI probably already uses more power than whole continents... and you wonder why electric just keeps on going up.

Glad that I am no longer in the race for gpu, cpu etc. Or jobs for that matter. Just a gentle well supported slide to infinity and beyond.

I was putting up some Christmas lights and I somehow managed to rip the wires going into the controller when I was untangling them. She Who Must Be Obeyed starts going nuts at me so I try to fix it. I take of the plastic housing on the controller box and see that the wires had been hot glued onto a simple control board. I stripe the wires back, checked loosely held the wires back on the board to see that they worked, heated up the glue and went to secure it on then to have the bloody PCB go full Palestinian alarm clock on me coating my fingers in black soot.

After Saturdays drive , is it normal to totally mess up the magic roundabout or should a competent driver cope ? Does it become easier after a few goes ?

Nearly 25 years of driving and road layouts like that still make me hate whoever designed them.

Once you know the layout end to end it is easier/makes sense but prohibitive for anyone using it for the first time.

Went out on Saturday night.
Was ice on tent over night.

I've bought a new, very expensive (for me) tent to replace the one in the pic as it does struggle with wind.

Sunday morning was amazing

literally had a popup asking if I need help... obviously a joke!!!! in response to someone who cut into a chicken breast and inside was an abscess.

Lord help us if some idiot mod really thought I would cut off my own hands... common sense and humour has left humanity.

We are probably reaching the point where soon recipes will be censored and words such as cut, pound, slice etc will be removed from common language encase it triggers someone on someone elses behalf.

Paid £6 extra for next day delivery yesterday for something I've ordered online. Delivery policy said 2pm (Mon to Thurs) is the cut off for next day delivery. I placed the order at 12:02 and received email confirmation a minute later.

Fast forward to today, no dispatch email, no tracking email from DPD, etc. Well then...

I get that Christmas is coming up and all, but at least mention the fact that it may not possible to meet next day delivery during busy periods before I waste my money paying them to deliver next day.
