Andor (Star Wars)

Yeah Andor in my opinion leans into something which was there all along even if it is a departure from the overall tone of a lot of other Star Wars content.

Any word on a Season 3? Typical modern Disney to sleep on the good aspects of their IP while continuing to butcher the franchise with other inferior productions

I didn’t think there was going to be a season 3? The origional plan was 5 seasons but all involved agreed to cut it back to two so they could get on with the rest of their careers! Shame but two good seasons beats 5 rubbish ones!

Yeah but after that? Would be nice to know how some of the other characters from the show end up and if/how Andor finds them after Rogue One.
Have you watched Rogue One?:)

It's been a while since I saw it, but I don't think Andor was finding anyone after the end of Rogue One, except possibly in the same way Anakin, Obi Wan and Yoda found people after a certain point.

It’s the tone of it that just make it not what Star Wars is about for me. For me the films are a family friendly adventure set in space with camp robots and daft comedic sidekicks and don’t take themselves too seriously.

While I can see where you're coming from, I don't really agree.

Star Wars always had incredibly bleak and dark themes inside of it, in my opinion the best of the movies by a country mile is Empire Strikes Back and there's parts of that bordering on horror. Luke entering the cave on Dagobah, Han being captured and encased in carbonite, the savage fight between Vader and Luke culminating in him finding out that the most feared man in the galaxy, who literally just maimed him, is his father. The entire movie is loss after loss for the rebels, no matter how hard they try they keep getting beaten down. There's a lot of imagery in it which might seem silly now, but for the time could have been quite scary for kids.

The overall story is essentially a tragedy, even the end of Return of the Jedi which is arguably the most light hearted of the original trilogy is bittersweet. Star Wars was always a mixture of dark and light themes for me, people struggling to come through the other side against all odds. I'm also a big fan of the extended universe in the form of books/games etc which obviously colours my opinion a fair bit too, both of the KOTOR games have some pretty horrific and dark elements and they're among the best experiences the franchise has to offer as far as I'm concerned.

I figured if they can do it with Palpatine they can do it with anyone.

I didn't really, I just woke up wanting to be a silly goose and it wasn't as funny as I expected :o
