Middle of the road race, but gave it an extra point for the decider bit.. even though that was a snooze fest after the Max pole.. would have been a much better race if Max had qualified 3rd.. although I suspect the Norris's Mclaren would have been very easy to overtake, if he was second.. :)

Anyway congrats to Norris, I didn't mind which of the Mclaren drivers won it..

Always interesting when we get a rules change, so next year should be interesting, just hope more than a single constructor get it right from the outset.

I voted higher than usual just becasue of the excitement of being the decider.

Well done to Norris! I thought he might lose it when he crossed track limits.

Max appears to have matured a lot over the last couple of years - he's actually likable now.... Took it like a champ

Are you forgetting he rammed another driver off the track just a few weeks ago?

Max would have won the WDC if it wasn't for his red mist.

Haha he intentionally rammed Russell remember? Which cost him 9 points

None of the top drivers really had to race each other often this year — otherwise we would have seen more of Max’s antics I’m sure.

This very well could be the end of the Verstappen “era”. What with Lando and McLaren (and Piastri) on the uppers, George looking like a favourite for the new regs, Ferrari potential in both drivers depending ..on Ferrari. Add to that a new RB without Newey and it doesn’t look promising. This so-called “GOAT” might walk away without even really matching Prost and Vettel’s tally, let alone the top tier of WDC winners.

I think you can only really compare a driver to his team mates, and Verstappens have all been sadly lacking.
Sainz would have been a useful comparison. So yeah if he gets stuck at 4 championships, he won’t leave a stunning record behind.
Even going on his first couple of seasons, nowhere near as good as Hamilton.

This is hilarious - Verstappen's peak performance was so far beyond that of Norris and Piastri. Both of them may improve next season, and of course George/Ferrari could become stronger next season, but almost certainly Verstappen will be a massive feature.

That he was even in the fight, much less at the final race in that car is a testament to just how beyond he is the others. Even if he lost a few % of performance however unlikely that is, in a car even remotely close to the others he's going to be exceptionally difficult to beat.

I'm a Ferrari fan and certainly no lover of Red Bull or Verstappen himself, but my eyeballs function despite the red tinted glasses.

Yeah but he’s never had a decent teammate or do you think he has?

The good (or bad, depending on perspective) thing about F1 is that regulation changes often throw things into a mix up.

Norris could go on to be a multiple time champion or McLaren could fumble the new regs and this will be his only ever success.

We might spend years watching Norris and Piastri giving us title fights or they could be fighting each other to be the one driver grabbing the last point in the top 10.
Verstappen could stall out at 4 titles or Red Bull build another monster car and he wins the next 5 in a row.

Audi might be shock the world and Hulkenberg pulls off a shock debut world title at 39 years old.

It's often a complete lottery when it comes to long term success, which is why it's so important for drivers like Norris or Piastri to grab the opportunity when it's there.

Yeah who knows what will happen. The only certainty is Ferrari will figure out someway to give us false hope, then underwhelm :(

Looks like a lot of guess work
Only time will tell when we see where the cars performance is for everyone it's a clean slate again, and maybe some will adapt while others don't and see how they compare to team mates as well

Although I dislike Max but driving ability he does seem to have that extra edge

Danny Ric pushed him hard in the 3 years they were together, and people don't think that highly of Danny Ric who put Vettel away at the height of his powers, but like Ham he struggled with the reg changes and people forget he was there or thereabouts during the first half fo the Hybrid era.

Despite it being a 3 way fight, I lost interested in this season a while ago as there were just so few good on track battles between the top 3, pole, take the lead hold the lead... First half of the season wasn't bad when the RB had good qually pace but would drop back during the race and teams were getting uneven tyre wear causing some interest, but second half has been extremely dull. We can only hope the new regs bring some interest and up front battles, but I'm not holding my breath.

As I thought I couldn't watch it live. At the end I just followed notifications from BBC sports app and watched news later.

Congratulations to Lando. It was great to have a close battle for the title and have a new winner.
Let's hope we don't see a single team dominate next year like it's often the case with reg changes. Unless it's Williams, then I'm all for it :D

Are you saying that if money was no object and you could pick any 2 drivers for your team you wouldn't pick verstappen?

He's also mentally stronger at the moment than Hamilton, piastri and norris.

I'm no fan of verstappen, nor do I dislike him. He was very much needed this season to keep the racing interesting.

Sure, he hasn't had the best team mates recently. But he keeps getting the better of each one.
