Hi
Im gonna buy an 5090, i want to buy the card with the least coil whine. Ive reas that the aorus doesnt have too much, but it has problems with thermal putty..
What about the suprim? any experiencies?
Sorry for my english, its not my native languaje

It's a gamble, you can buy from whichever vendor you want but there is absolutely zero chance you'll not get coil whine. It does depend on settings and end goal FPS/res etc, but spending silly money on a "premium" model for an indistinguishable performance boost absolutely will not change anything.

TLDR: Spending more wont alleviate the chances, spending less will save you money.

Hilariously, even if the GPU doesn't do it the PSU might due to the insane power draw.

well, i had a palit and the fans were noisy as hell, and coil whine too. I sold it a few months ago, and now i want a silent card, or at least, not too noisy..

You could buy two of the same card and have differing levels of coil whine.

I think in most cases you’re going to have some level of whine, especially if you play at very high frame rates.

I’ve never come across a card that is silent pumping out 400fps for example.

The best advice I can give is to buy from somewhere with a good returns policy so you can exchange a card if you’re not happy with the noise levels.

If fan noise is a concern I’d avoid the founders edition, and astral as the extra fan can be quite noisy. I’ve found noise levels on the Suprim quite good. Fans have a nice tone to my ears.

the warranty on my country its not too good..they dont refund for coil whine issues, thats why im looking for the best chance of least coil whine
Its gigabyte reliable? ive read some bad things

Gigabyte is kind of hit and miss - in some regions they are much better than others - I have no idea as to Chile in that respect. Some parts of the world they seem to offload the products which didn't make the grade for the more prominent markets.

Coil whine is very random, fortunately I've not encountered it much but I've built SLI setups before with 2 exact same cards where one is fine and the other has a bit of it, etc.

You'll likely have to undervolt to reduce the coil whine, on either and 4K high refresh.

If you're playing at 165Hz or lower, may not even been an issue.

Owned both, both top tier choices with the Astral.

So just luck of the draw.

Its the thermal putty leak still a thing on Aorus? i want that card

It’s a total crap shoot between all of these.

Having tried all of them, Astral had crazy coil whine, Suprim had quiet fans was also quite noisy with whine, Aorus had middling whine and quiet fans but they are noisy when they ramp up to 40% minimum… and the card loves doing this turn on / turn off thing because it’s cool… fans off, gets hot idling on a 4k hi refresh monitor, fans ramp… cools… and so on. You can have it so the are always on in afterburner by setting a custom curve but it has to be above 40% speed IIRC.

Ended up going for a 5090 Gaming Trio with a waterblock, so all cooled by Noctua fans and basically silent. I possibly could have gone down this road for any of them. The only solution for coil whine if you’re really sensitive is noise cancelling headphones.

Overall I’d say MSI is the best… but apparently they are jokers with warranty compared with the others… so pick your poison :D

My friend bought the same GPU as me and he a small amount of whine, Nothing as extreme as what I've heard on some boards, but compared to mine it's very noticeable. We have very similar setups as well and we both purchased within a week of each other from the same place. He ended up returning his and getting a replacement using the coil whine As the primary reason for the return and requested for an exchange which he got and lo and behold the replacement one that he got had significantly less (But still more than mine :smug: )
