Mass shooting at Bondi beach Australia

One phrase is getting bandied around and that’s “suicidal empathy”, and one may argue it’s why we’re in the mess we are.

Yea, you know thats not actually a 'thing' right? It's just the usual right whingers coining a phrase to try and denegrate the things they don't understand or agree with.

I'm saying that I think it's reprehensible for Netanyahu to publicly blame these killings on Australia recognising the need for a Palestinian state, which most countries agree is part of the path to a lasting peace. You know, to try and end the cycle of violence. Seems either dishonest or extremely naive to somehow believe that Israel laying waste to Gaza and killing 70,000 people (and continuing to annexe the West Bank) could not have had anything to do with motivating extremists to stage such an attack.
Local jewish communities, like the sacked members of the uk board of deputies attempt, need to condemn/dissociate themselves with the actions of Israeli state.

I heard both the chief rabbi's discussion today on radio 4 which did not mention such pragmatism, also interviews with uk jews who said we should not be blamed for that,
but don't have the insight to condemn it.

**** sake that really annoys me.

Look at the people, not the guns.

They will be doing both. Talking about strict gun laws in sane countries isn't a hot topic. Villainising a group of people for the actions of a tiny tiny minority isn't a good thing and doesn't help. What exactly would you like to see them do?

No they should not, it is not their government unless they are Israeli citizens. Being Jewish does not make you responsible for the ills of a regime.

I see Australian Labor are now talking about stricter gun control laws, rather than addressing the elephant in the room.

Leaping the very low bar of having more functional politics than the US. Stricter gun laws have a clear record of success in reducing gun violence -- why wouldn't they do so?

TBH I have no idea who the quoted person is. I just find it odd, all some posters do is regurgitate stuff they've seen on social media. Its like they cant form their own opinion... it is... interesting to say the least.

And they think that by doing this, it's going to change the world
