Mass shooting at Bondi beach Australia

I see the Americans have foiled a terrorist attack that was to take place on Christmas Eve. Another Palestine supporters group.
Security services around the world must be getting a bit twitchy now with Christmas nearly here.
Hence why so many Christmas markets and suchlike are surrounded by diversity barriers these days.

A single person with a knife has killed more than that.
Not on a beach like that they aren't.
These men used shotguns and a bolt action rifle. Not ARs.
Yes and imagine how much worse it would be with an AR type rifle.
The London and Manchester attackers used bombs. London Bridge was vehicles and knives. Manchester synagogue knives and a vehicle. I can go on if you'd like?

And this proves what? If they had access to assault style rifles the attacks could have been so much worse. That you are claiming gun control makes no difference just makes you sound like the American gun nut.

It proves that when they want to kill a lot of people they dont need ARs so your point is nonsense.
If needs be we go to the easiest one...9/11. No guns, nevermind ARs.

Isn't that where a shotgun with buckshot would come in handy?

Nah you can't use a shotgun to humanly kill larger animals, for example you can't use a shotgun to hunt dear in this country.

Shotguns are fine for birds and rabbits, but nothing larger.

Don't get me wrong if you are within 20 feet of whatever, your gonna mess it up real good, but at any distance they are no good.

LOL yeah because hijacking airliners is as easy as buying an assault rifle where they are legal and going out in public and using it.

You just keeping digging that hole deeper.

Buckshot is designed to take down bucks. You could also use a slug.

I just don't see why the pubic should have access to larger calibre rounds that cause large amounts of damage. Park rangers or officials who are specially licenced is a different thing.

Theres no hole. Youre wrong. Simple. Ive cited multiple examples but again youre completely in denial.
Want more examples to show youre talking tosh? How many ARs were needed for Lockerbie? How many for Liverpool? How many were used to shoot David Amess? Reading, none there either. Streatham? Parsons Green?

Tell you what though, there is a trend there!

It people elsewhere shoot at deer with a shotgun then whatever.

You need something high calibre, .308 or equivalent ideally .223 probably ok.

If you hit a dear at any range with a shotgun chances are you injure it enough for it to run off and die several days later.

You won't easily get a licence for using slugs here full stop, they don't like to grant them.

Why would a member of the public require a high powered rifle in Australia? There are no bears of other large threats to justify a larger calibre. .22 rimfire is plenty for hunting/pest control [...]

Eh?

Not that I'm in favour of people being allowed to own guns without a good reason and proper controls. But tell us again how you humanely took down that 6 foot tall kangaroo and that massive salt water crocodile with a .22 rimfire rifle?

^^^ this - good luck shooting a croc or a kangaroo or a charging pack of wild hogs with a .22 rifle

Allowing all the pointless pro-palestine protests, in countries that have nothing to do with it, hasn't helped this kind of situation at all.
Hopefully we see a crackdown on this going forward.

The hole that is you think a lack of gun control wouldn't make these attacks so much worse and make them so much easier. You'll never stop a determined person but you don't have to make it easier by making weapons of war easily available. This is the sort of 2A thinking we hear from gun nuts in the US.

Assault style rifle in my opinion is completely meaningless in this context - semi-automatic and automatic weapons is what largely makes the difference - without getting into the weeds of calibre/round type, accuracy and effective range.

Personally I'm ideologically very against restrictions due to the actions of a small number of crazy people though there has to be a balance to it and the vast majority of firearms enthusiasts can still enjoy the hobby without having full auto, etc. otherwise it gets silly.

What I found crazy about this and a couple of other recent mass shootings - there seems to be an increasing number of people initially completely oblivious and then just pause momentarily before trying to continue with their day like they can't even conceive they might be a target, mind boggling.

to wit. Tunisian beach shooting, many british killed.

the banal trope, cut down on free speech and right to protest about Appartheid, Israeli state -
yes Lord Young too, in r4pm interview yesterday his answer was there are people in israel protesting about their government, why do we need to do that in the UK - lol

also - head in sand V

Yeah when the state keeps breaking international law , yes the few take it too far which is wrong when it's protests against the state but to not allow and kept silent is also wrong

As in involvement might want to look into F-35 parts exports, the RAF flight paths from Cyprus and the case of James Henderson, a former royal marine who was riding in a World Central Kitchen convoy in Gaza when it was hit by an Israeli strike on 1 April 2024
