2025 Personal Review and 2026 Goals

2025 is the year I did C25K and started enjoying running. That led to a 10k and to a HM and now training for a full marathon. I've also started strength training and enjoying the process.

2026 goals:
- Complete the marathon training plan, stick to it and hopefully get a sub 4 finish.
- Run the same HM I did in 2025 but aim for 1:45 (that would be a 10minute PB :| )
- Stick to a consistent lifting habit, try and get to 1x body weight for bench, 1.5x for squat and 2x for deadlift.
- Stretch daily

Well done @Martynt74 for progressing and keeping accountability without guilt!
I should be more formal with my goals for 2026. I built a decent foundation in terms of improving strength, mobility and mental health.

Cheers, i like to try and review things, but certainly never going to kick myself for failures. I like goals, but happy for life to take over most of the time.

When i was 30 i was probably in the best shape of my life, was away from family for around a year and so had little to do but get into fitness (had previously been super lazy/fat). Would be nice if i could start my 40's in a decent shape too!

I had a few goals for this year and mostly hit them all.

I wanted to get out on my mountain bike more than in 2024 (915km) and managed 1,305km.
Cycling in total is down though from 2,596km to 1,958km.
I wanted to lose some weight and have gone from 90kg to 82kg.

For 2026 i want to aim for a few things.
Get back into Hiking and do at least 200km
Get my cycling total numbers back up to above 2,600km
Try to keep the mountain biking numbers, though they may slip if I start hiking again.
Get to 80kg or less.

Plus as always keep increasing my FTP and Vo2Max.

2025 lost me all my gains, put on weight. Still back pains, knee pains and other medical crap thats put me off.

2026 will be mostly cycling and core work. Solid base built over the next 6 months and hopefully back to the gym.

2026 Goals as I forgot to put them
100-200 Mountain bike
150-250 Walking/Hiking
Make sure I do some body weight exercises at least three times a week
More Golf.
None sport related but learn Guitar at age 40!!! Can play the Piano and do have a Synthesizer but I’d like to add in some Electric Guitar Ambient style.

2025
Ended the year bang on 15 stone. Squatted 205kg x 3 last week, which might be a PB, failed 220kg tonight then hit 212.5kg for a PB 20 minutes later. Only took 15 years to finally squat over 210! Felt good for 220 but the bar rolled slightly forward on the way up and I lost my balance. Also benched 137.5kg x 3 last week and 150kg for a single this week and deadlifted 215kg 3 x 3 last week.

2026
Squat 220, deadlift 240 and bench 160 then cut a few pounds so I can tick off a lifetime ambition of competing once, probably in the masters 93kg class.

2025
Nope. Succeeded.
Actually - eating healthier I suppose, cutting down on the bad stuff.

2026
I have goals:
* May 15 mile walk - last week it was 4.1 and this week it's 7.14 miles with some gnarly undulating hills.
* Dec - challenged the brothers in law to Sixpack challenge to target flab and everyone at longest Plank challenge
