LG OLED 2024 thread - A4, B4, C4, G4

I'm delighted with my 55-C5 got an absolute steal on it including 30% Quidco cashback.

Seriously though how can the more expensive models like the G range justify the price. Like how can this TV be any better? It's already blindingly bright! :D

Let's not talk about the M-Series haha.

I managed to bag a 65M4 for 1175.

@LuckyBenski
Haha you already knew this.

But for the other here it is. Love it. Nice upgrade over the 55C9.

new C5 query - when i run plex after around 50 minutes the film/episode i'm watching just switches off and the TV displays 'restarting app to free up system memory'
is there any way/setting to avoid this? ( i have a firetv cube which i also have plex on - running it through this doesn't generate the same error, but is more of faff to open up than using the app within LG)

Sounds like a memory leak. I wonder if the TV is requesting and decoding a format that isn't very efficient/causes memory usage to increase?

IME the freeing up shame.memory message is very rare - at work we test TV apps and it's almost never come up.

I'm looking for info on this too, nearly pulled the trigger on it in the BF deals for about £970.. wish I had now as I cannot find it for less than £1399 now :(
Just seen if you buy direct from LG you can save £150 by trading in any old TV by the looks of it.

Has anyone upgraded to WebOS 25? I'm on a C2.

It popped up on my TV almost a month ago, I didn't do it as I was about to watch something and then when I remembered it disappeared.

I did some googling and some reddit threads described some major issues and that the rollout had been stopped.

It's now reappeared today and I'm wondering if anything has changed?

Not had any update on my G4. I really hope the new version comes with some home screen improvements and customisation, the current version is awful.

Think will be time to upgrade the lg e7 55" to the g5 65" next year. Having a qd oled monitor, I am very tempted by samsung or sonys options though.... Got a nvidia shield pro so not too bothered about the OS/internal apps.

You can look at reviews of 2025 models for that info.

Spoiler: I doubt they've made it more user friendly. The home screen on TVs these days is a space to advertise and direct you to partner content rather than personalise your experience.

How is it awful? Seems pretty much how it should be after I've turned off the adverts.
I've got all the ads etc off too, but then it's just masses of wasted space. You can't add shortcuts to HDMI inputs like you could on the old home bar that ran along the bottom of the screen, and it doesn't have the shortcuts that appear on certain streaming app icons either. There's lots of cool stuff they could do with it if they weren't wasting time feeding AI-generated ads and force-installing apps and shortcuts.

I upgraded earlier today, I've had no issues so far.

I do like that you can edit the app icons bar on the home screen now to hide unwanted apps. So I've now got all the LG and Microsoft Co-Pilot hidden away which I don't use.

I have my LG content services country set to "others" in the actual tv settings, so I don't see any of the ads, suggested programming or "LG TV Channels" in the input menu or home screen.

Hopefully this should also hide the AI slop ads detailed above too :p

The only issue with it is you can't download any of the usual apps from the "others" store.

You have to switch it to the UK or Auto, download your Netflix, itvx, iplayer etc and then switch it back. Then they work fine, when they don't load is usually when an update has been released. So I switch it back to UK, update the apps and then switch it back.

My main concern with the update was a lot of reports of it bricking arc usage for a soundbar, which I didn't want. But that hasn't happened for me.

I’ve got an old B7 and a newer G4 and the B7 is just so much better to use. They really peaked there with UI design.

I just use an Apple TV so avoid the UI as much as possible. I don’t hate it and it’s actually quite fast, it’s just annoying how much worse it’s got in the last seven years.
