Without central heating on how cold is your home?

Mine got down to 17.4c yesterday according to Hive, while I was WFH and no heating on during the day. Outside temp was about 9c. This is a 2001 house.

Eventually, regardless of how well insulated, you'll reach equilibrium with the outside temperature.

akshully since the human body radiates 80-100W of heat, that may be enough to heat up a room warmer than the outside. Factor in a large family in a small house, a couple of big dogs...

Probably why in medieval times they brought in sheep, goats into the home

Can't tell (these days), but it used to be the same or worse than the outside temp when rain, mist, snow, damp, etc has happened recently, since there's gaps in the brickwork and thus we lose temps faster than we'd like.

Now, because of care duties here for elderly parents, Central Heating has been on since Sep to help prevent them from catching a cold (due to other conditions giving them issue with too many clothes) and the fact their room is colder than the rest in the household. Hence, can't tell.

It can get down to 15c. to keep it above 18c heating comes on for around an hour in morning and evening.

My wife likes 20c.. so I sometimes find 3 hours in the morning. Curse that boost button on the hive!

It's also impacted by the fact EVERY SINGLE RADIATOR has clothes drying on it EVERY DAY! bah!
Tried explaining that its more efficient and likely cheaper to dry the clothes in the dryer... but nooo she wont listen.
