Terminator 2D No Fate

Now I cant decide which version to get. PC, Switch or PS5 now I have the PS Portal.

As the price is better than expected.

Pre-ordered this a little while back, didn't realise I was getting a day one edition with collectors stuff. The cloth poster is a neat throwback, and it comes with two versions of the manual; one being a mini version for inside the Switch game case which is a nice touch.

I don't really care for this kinda stuff much and will be selling it after anyway, but it's cool.

Will share some impressions at some point, I know the main campaign is very short.

I love it, though I had to drop to easy just to complete. Runs great, plays well and only 900MB.

Can't see much replayability after unlocking everything but it's still a good little game, music is cool too. Not sure if Xbox controller is best though.

Probably not worth at £25 but £10-£15, sure.

This game is a short but sweet throwback - it's cool what they do with the story choices on subsequent playthroughs, so definitely worth a few campaign runs if you enjoyed finishing the first run. I've done a couple playthroughs now and will defnitely be playing another and trying harder difficulties.

While there's some nuance to be found with the slide/roll invincibility to dodge projectiles and hazzards, and other evasive strategies, it doesn't go too much deeper than that. There's some variety and the game feels good to play though, it feels like there's good groundwork here for sequels to expand on it.

I'd be perfectly satisfied being ~£20 out of pocket for this game, considering it's my kinda genre and the T2 nostalgia factor, but like Fry said for most it may be more of a £10-£15 game.

If you liked this game I'd highly recommend Huntdown, a great 16bit era hommage and although more challenging than T2 it's very checkpoint friendly with no game overs.

Is it difficult?
If familiar with these kinda games it's not especially difficult on Normal no, up until towards the end the levels and regular enemies are fairly easy. Some bosses can seem tricky at first but once you know their few mechanics and figure out how to deal with (or cheese) them, they're quite straightforward and don't require especially fast reactions. If you lose all your Continues it's back to the beginning, but it's rewarding to take what you learned into the next attempt.

I wish they'd done it like Earthion and made this an actual 16 bit game with a cart release on Mega Drive or SNES. I've not played it yet but I haven't seen anything from the trailers and reviews which make it look impossible.

Yeah it's not hard on Normal anyway, I was surprised how easy the first few levels were especially.

There's two more difficulty choices above that though, the hardest is unlocked after finishing a certain amount of post game content(takes a few hours maybe).

I was disappointed when I read the game length on the Eurogamer review, I'd say that it sounds like a £15 game for that reason.
This will definitely get picked up when it drop to that price in a sale, but until then it continues to sit on my wish list.

From just a campaign playthrough you don't experience all the levels, but yeah it's still a short story mode.

It depends on the sort of player you are I think. It's designed as an arcade style experience and to be replayed to challenge yourself and go for higher ranks/scores, but if you're not into that it'll be worth less yeah.

I'll get at least 5 hours out of it I think.

Maybe I'll pick this up at a later date. I have been super tempted by all of the good feedback, but the length just kills off any idea of spending £40 on it. And I say that as someone who will probably go for the platinum.

It's £22.50 from PSN if you have Plus. So like £19~ if you use discounted PSN credit.
