Ongoing issues with Alphabet & VW ID.7

Had no choice but to collect, so collected today.

First thing I’ve noticed is the range is abysmal.

170 miles on 80%.

Im sure that last winter it was doing around 220-240 on 80%.

Certainly during the summer it was doing 280-300 on 80%.

If vehicle has been in for work the range estimate is likely off due to the nature of usage when trying to fix issues / moving vehicle around - assuming any of that has actually been done and/or the dealer/garage staff ragging it around when using the car for a laugh :s

Maybe they've just been blasting the heating while working on it. Not sure how the new VAG software calculates predicted range, and if it is based on instantaneous current/recent use or an average of hours/miles etc.

Hoping that it’s just this.

m/kWh has been low too though at 3.3

In the summer I was doing 5+

Is it fixed though?

Too early to say for some of the things

However:

Brake pedal - firmer like I remember other ID products. Literally couldn’t feel any back pressure before. They did have to replace a part which required front end disassembly

Windows - actually go back up when you want them to.

They fixed the rattles introduced by the last disassembly.

They’ve had it a while though, since 21st October.

Since collecting, the range has gone up a smidge but it’s also much warmer. 13 degrees today vs low single digits when collecting.

At 80% full today it was showing 211 miles of range which still feels very low.

Can’t get the driving efficiency above 3.5 m/kwh - I’m confident that it would usually be north of 3.8 at the very least, typically north of 4 with this mild weather. In the warmer months it would be above 5 on the same journey.

One of things I always liked about the ID.7 was that we could get to Wales during the cold months last winter on 80% without any trouble, but I wouldn’t risk it on the current charge.

You are putting to much faith in the GoM, but that is why it is called a GoM, it is guessing. You could always check the voltage with ODB on the pack at 100% and perhaps top balance it if you haven't since having it back.

Guess 'o' meter. The milage left is basically just a complete guess unless you're driving exactly the same route, in the same conditions, in exactly the same way every time you get in it.

I’ve found the ID 7 to be extremely accurate in the past.

When finished charging, it could show 230 miles, and after getting to Wales, a 170 mile journey for me, it’d be within + or - 5 miles.

It’s still accurate now - when I get to my destination, the remaining range displayed it broadly bang on what it should be based on the distance driven.

The issue is that it’s about 15-20% off where I remember it being.

By contrast, the Vauxhall and Merc I had were terribly inaccurate (Merc less so). The Vauxhall would pretty much always say 310 miles when charged and I’d do roughly 50-65% off that.

When I checked my long term average on the ID 7 has been around 4.2 m/kWh.

Range still iffy

CarPlay issues not fixed with GPS - having exact same symptoms with it today that I’ve had since I got the car. It’s not a phone issue as I have a different phone

Strange thing happened today.

Range is back - a sudden change. Not gradual. Has been hovering 180-210 miles on 80% depending on how warm it is.

Yesterday was 215 I think and quite warm.

Bit colder this morning but when I got in the car, 245 miles.

However, the windows are not working - as in don’t go up if you put them down a little.

Not sure if just coincidence but weird nevertheless.

So that’s GPS and windows still not working properly.

Go all the way down and back up to recalibrate ?

So Alphabet have offered to let me reject the vehicle, and offered me a refund of 552.86 + VAT

That’s not a typo.

That’s less than what they offered before.

Plus compensation for “distress” of £200.

Honestly made me laugh.

Update on this, Alphabet refused to make any further offer.

Total I've paid so far is approximately £7,400 and since day 1 I have not have a fully working car.

As of yesterday, the SOS system and networking has failed.

The car now warns me every couple of minutes that there is no data available, I cannot control charging of the car through my provider, nor can I unlink the car and I cannot access any online services through the car.

I think court is probably the only choice here unless anyone has any suggestions?
