Negative feedback on ebay for cancelling the order (buyer seemed dodge)

Haven't received a negative feedback in years but just got one now. The events:

- Buyer buys my item worth £500 ish (stereo speakers)
- They have only 4 feedback but they are positive
- They're name is "KKLLN BSYGPZZY" and the address goes to some random UK business address which looks like some kind of shipping company on an industrial estate (website shows HQ in Hong Kong)
- Google reviews of said business have multiple people saying the address is being used by scammers and they tried to buy high value items ebay/amazon which was blocked due to fraudulent activity.

Having seen the address and not wanting to get scammed, I decided to just cancel the order entirely, block the buyer and relist. I heard nothing from the buyer about this at all, but I'm not sure if that's because when I blocked them ever buying from me again, it blocked them messaging me as well. In any case, I resold the item to someone else and forgot about it. This week the original buyer gave negative feedback. Not sure I can really do much here? I asked ebay to take it away and showed them evidence of the dodgy address but I'm not expecting miracles.

I had something similar and Ebay wouldn't remove the negative feedback, you'll have to wait 12 months for it to 'disappear' what I did was comment on the negative feedback so anyone looking at why mine had dropped from 100% could see why.

Back up to 100% now it's been over 12 months since I received it.

people will understand because it is well known now that there are large amounts of bad buyers on ebay these days who try to abuse sellers, just reply to their feedback explaining that the address they left you looked very suspicious

onlookers can't see feedback when the same article was resold successfully & unless you are selling many speakers/items at £500 situation must be evident to other purchasers ?

Speak to ebay before you post it. I've done so in the past and they've reassured me in writing that'd they'd have my back if the buyer was dodgy.

I did the same once and eBay refused to remove the negative feedback.

In fairness, just like you, I had no proof the buyer was dodgy so I do understand eBay's point of view somewhat. Allowing this sort of thing would mean almost complete freedom for sellers to cancel orders just because they want to.

I just took the negative for a year. Doesn't make much difference if you already have a reasonably good amount of recent positive feedback.

Feed back is split between as a buyer and as a seller.

This was mainly to stop dodgy people setting up a new account, buying some cheap items and getting a good feedback. Then using the account to sell stuff.. and being trusted.

When I buy an item from feabay, I only check their feedback as a seller… just because they are a good buyer doesn’t mean they are a good seller.

Most sellers do not care about potential buyers feedback, there was only one auction that I entered that demanded that all bidders had a feedback of over a certain number else their bid will get cancelled.

Update on this one. Decided to try to get through to an actual human agent on chat. After repeatedly asking the chat bot to put me through to an actual agent, it did. Explained the situation and after a while they agreed and said they'd remove the feedback. I don't know if it helped that I've been a member since the early ebay days with all good feedback but they sided with me and removed it. Fair play ebay customer service.

Nice one for coming back and showing that ebay is not just one big horror show.

More concerning if they leave the buyer account active if yhey’re agreed it’s scammy..

It's 2025. Do people really look at ebay feedback any more?

I guess it depends on the items being purchased, but I wouldn't care to check feedback score from some one I'm buying a 2nd hand kids toy, some baby bottles, a 2nd hand sofa etc.

It depends.

If I am buying an expensive item. Yes I will.
But if it's (let's say) 1000 items and 99percent good. I won't even look again.

If its 10 items and 90 percent. I will check the negative. Often the language (all caps, poorly written) is enough for me to say "scummy buyer". But most people don't even look I bet.

Ebay feedback is a bit of a joke now.
