*** The Official M5 MacBook Pro thread (it has the M5 chip and everything!) ***

I would if I could justify it but my M1 MBA is fine. The only thing I want in addition to it is a bigger screen but for something I just browse the web on when I'm watching TV I'd rather put the money towards upgrading my main machine.
That's what i got right now, original Macbook Air M1.

I had a 2017 MBP before my M1 Air and much prefer the form factor of the Air. I take it from room to room and it’s so good for that couple with its massive battery life. I’ve considered changing to one of the later Air’s and at some point will do, but for now I’m still loving what I’ve got.

I am here in Vietnam for a holiday and have just picked up a new M5 pro for 1089 pounds equivalent (after 8.5% VAT rebate at the airport).... bit of a steal I think.

Base model but still a significant upgrade from my 14' M1 Pro (will sell for about 450 pounds when back in the UK).
Memory management, especially compression seems much improved over the older model and WOW runs like a dream on it.... so I am using it for all the right things!

The M5 is seriously fast and the battery life... OMG. outdoor with screen at 100% I am drawing 7.5w, and inside more like 4w for general use...

I was tempted by the M4 pro, but would have cost me 250 pounds more and to be honest, although I am an FCP user, I just don't need it.

It amazes what you can get in a laptop now.

I have the base M5 Pro that I purchased when they had a really decent deal at CostCo for £1082 ex VAT. This replaced my M1 Air as the workhorse laptop for the household. To be honest, apart from the slightly quicker loading times on apps and general zippiness of the screen, there isnt that big of a difference from the M1. The M1 has be relegated to a spare laptop now. I really only wanted the Pro for the 120Hz screen tbh :D

Looks like they're gearing up for a M5 Pro/Max release this next week at their conference if all the rumours are true. Which seemingly feels pretty accurate given the cue's they've done in the past with delaying shipments for current models etc.

Looking to grab an M5 Pro 14" to upgrade my work laptop :) Lenovo laptop isn't cutting it anymore, soldered 16GB RAM is suffering with Windows 11, can't add any more!

I almost bought a new laptop and Studio display a couple of weeks ago and held off as there were rumors of new stuff coming around the 28th.

I assume it will be just the Macbook Pros but I'd like to see a new Studio Display even if the Mac Studio is later.

Would be good! Feel like it would go hand in hand with all these new creator studio apps they're releasing.

I think the ongoing risk of waiting, especially for the M6 is that the new tech - OLED, plus current market realities could result in pretty significant base price rises, especially on the Pro machines... but as always this is just speculation based on circumstantial evidence.. I wonder if we are even going to see price rises on the M5 Pros and Air, especially with the new MacBook slotting in underneath.

I expect we will see the price rises this generation.

I'm holding on to my M1 Pro until they refresh the body and include the rumoured OLED display for the M6 version.
Yeah, this is where I'm at. Starting to feel the lack of RAM these days though so it was hard to resist the M5 Pro but I figure the next refresh will be the big one and it's worth holding off until then.

There's nothing I do with my M1 Pro MacBook which warrants an upgrade to the M5 version, plus if I do need actual power I have a M4 Max Studio. Still holding off.

No reason to upgrade my M4 Pro 16"" I'm guessing the next one will have the OLED so that's probably going to be the time to upgrade
