Can't assign keyboard keys to mouse buttons.

Hello.

The mouse is a Keychron which has a website for changing settings (called Keychron Launcher). I am able to change the DPI steps but can't seem to assign keyboard buttons to the forward and backward mouse buttons. When I press the keyboard button, nothing at all happens. Any advice on this? I haven't yet done a factory reset and I am reluctant to update the firmware as I understand this is usually a last resort action.

Unfortunately, my PC is Linux and the PC the mouse is going to be used on is a work PC with installations restricted, so no option to even install on one and use on the other. This is why I am trying the online method.

I have never used Linux so can't be of any help there, sorry.

Are you sure your mouse has onboard memory to retain settings, some Keychron models do but not all. If your mouse does then you should be able to install the software on any non-locked down windows PC, program the settings you want, make sure they are set to be stored on onboard memory, and then use the mouse with the custom stored settings on any device !?!
