I didn't see the usual thread popping up, and I've always enjoyed reading people's recommendations and the varied tastes on here, so I thought I'd kick start 2025's thread!

What're your top albums of the year? What've you revisited time and time again this year?

Mine's been quite a metal-heavy year again, but there's some outliers too!

1. Deafheaven - Lonely People With Power

This has knocked Sunbather off it's perch for me. Excellent album, and I feel it's a great culmination of all their previous work. Love Boy Harsher's appearance too.

2. Pain Magazine - Violent God

This came out of nowhere for me. Got to love some french electro noise rock whatever it is 'thing', and features Birds in Row, no less. Excellent!

3. Crippling Alcoholism - Camgirl

This is so dark, but so damn good. It's like a strange mash up of Type O Negative, mixed with Crystal Castles and Chat Pile. It just works for me!

4. Saya Gray - SAYA

Just a brilliant summer album.

5. Indifferent Engine - Speculative Fiction

Brilliant throwback to my emo years. Come back to this a fair few times over the year.

6. Dimscûa - Dust Eater

Flipping amazing post-metal. And from my neck of the woods, no less.

7. Hayley Williams - Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party

Again, just makes me nostalgic for my university years. She's really matured as an artist, and still has a great voice, not that she's really all that old, of course.

8. The Callous Dao Boys - I Don't Want To See You In Heaven

This is a whopper. Some of the best mathcore of recent years.

9. An Abstract Illusion - Sleeping City

Didn't think they could top 'Woe' and they didn't, but it's pretty darn close.

10. Billy Woods - Name I don't think I can say here (old Robinson's jam jar character)

One of the best hiphop voices around these days in a genre sorely lacking anything exciting (to me) these days.

Honourable Mentions - Ethel Cain, Kathryn Joseph, Deadguy, Conjurer, Julia Wolf, Rolo Tomassi, Eschalon and Coroner.

Biggest Disappointment - Deftones - Private Music (Meh)

Favourite tracks - Crippling Alcoholism - Saran Wrapped Cash and Pain Magazine - Dead Meat

DJ Koze - Music Can Hear Us

Genre-defying electronica that doesn't get nearly the acclaim it should. Best album of the year by a huge margin.

Ben Bohmer - Bloom

The master of warm synth sounds, another epic album.

Nice, I’ll have to check those out. I do love a bit of synth too :)

I’ve quite enjoyed Daniel Avery’s latest, if you’ve heard of him. Might be worth a go!

Pleasantly surprised to see this is a metal post.

Does it have to be albums that can out in 2025?

I found an album by a band that came out in 2014 a few weeks back that I think is amazing.

Babymetal - Metal Forth
A bit collab heavy but the collabs are pretty flipping good. Obvious standouts are summer blockbuster RATATATA and Song 3 (I never thought Babymetal would go that heavy) Saw them live too for the first time since their first album and they've got even better.

AFI - Silver Bleeds the Black Sun
Their last album, Bodies, was a disappointment but this one is great, very goth with a real The Cure feel to it.

Sleep Token - Even in Arcadia
The popular band to hate right now. It's not quite as good as Take Me Back to Eden (though that would be tough to top) but it's still a great album.

Ghost - Skeleta
The other popular band to hate! I just don't think Ghost can make a bad album, I've loved everything they've done.

Steven Wilson - The Overview
A real return to prog form, he's dabbled with more poppy sounds over recent this years but this is a two track prog epic. Also my favourite live performance this year, seeing it live with some incredibly talented musicians and great visuals from his longtime collaborator Lasse Hoile was amazing. Probably my album of the year if I had to pick one.

Biffy Clyro - Futique
Another band that have very consistently released good albums, this is another damn strong release.

Vukovi - My God Has Got A Gun
Alt rock? Heavy rock? An edge of punk to it too. I think they've improved with every album.

My disappointment of the year so far has been the latest Skrillex album. I thought it was pretty dreadful.

Lady gaga: Mayhem.

She's my all time favourite artist. And this album was back to what I loved her for from the very start.

Seeing her live this year was incredible, she's always incredible. And no concert has ever come close to hers. All of them.

From the Fame/Monster Ball to Born This away and ArtPop to Abracadabra Mayhem.
I've loved her for nearly 20 years and hope there's more to come!

I have rewatched the tour videos as its just so intense. Who else does tours like this?
