I'll start with a kenetic switch.

No power required at all.

I'm guessing there is a piezo crystal or some such thing in it, basically the physical effort of clicking the switch is converted into electric energy which powers the transmitter enough to send the on/off to the receiver. I ordered one and it works well, you literally just stick the switch on the wall, and you are done. You can buy all sorts, including multiple channels or multiple switches for the one device, there is a pairing process to match receiver to transmitters/s.

Using it to switch on/off under-cabinet lighting in the utility room. Previously had a rechargeable light that had a PIR, but this one works better and I have already reassigned the USB one to the larder.

My previous doorbell was the same, switch was self powered and the chime unit was just a 3 pin plug unit, worked well but I changed it to a Blink doorbell for the video

We've got a doorbell like that. Although the number of people who ignore it and knock on the door we may as well not have bothered.
Had a few people who did the same recently and just ignored the doorbell. Made me think what's the point of having one...

Yep, use one in the bathroom to turn the extractor fan on and off.
