I went to a gig of theirs at Christmas a couple of years ago and they this played it live which was awesome.

I have about 40 in my Christmas songbook, from school assembly bangers (dressing up as a sheep not compulsory) to Slade, and the one I enjoy playing and gets the best reception is nearly always Fairy Tale of New York... the slow start and rousing chorus is such a winner, even in care homes, where the mood of a song matters more than the words (not that I do the controversial bit). Stop the Cavalry with a Kazoo taped to my mic is fun too.

But, on a good day, with a following wind and some drop D tuning, I can bodge a version of this personal favourite, which is sublime. Well, the original is...

Most of the 70’s Xmas songs did it for me but this stirs the emotions more.

It’s not a happy song. But weirdly I really like Lonely this Christmas by Mudd. Just as a song, I get the song matter isn’t very christmassy but I like his voice and the music and it’s super catchy and nice to sing along to.

I think it's driving home for Christmas, this year at least.
I have done a Lot of travelling around Xmas this year and it kept cropping up all the time.
Also combined with his death, so added a bit of weight to it.
