What book are you reading...

Work has been stressful lately so I just wanted a comfortable book to read that wasn't too much. Re-reading LotR. Its really not that long and its just a lovely read. I tend to only read for 30-60 minutes before bed so its a nice way to wind down.

"Pushing Ice" by Alastair Reynolds.

Both this and "The House of Suns" have got me back in to reading, gave up on quite a few books before.

Before these I was looking at books to start and a lot of them had a lot of books in the series, so I said I'm only going to read one and done books.
After both of these I'm now thinking "I really want to find out what happened to so and so" :)

Just finished the 14 books of the Wheel of Time. Enjoyed this very much and a little sad to know it's over (apart from the Prequel)

1 week short of a full 7 months to read them. I had thought it would take me longer to read in all honesty. Guess that's a sign of how much I enjoyed it.

Got a few in my TR list now:

1. A New Spring (WoT prequel)
2. Mercy of Gods - first book from the newest Captive's War series by James S.A Corey)
3. Livesuit (novella from Captive's War series)
4. Exodus - Book 1 from Archimedes Engine series
5. Red Rising

Just finished the "Three Body Problem", which is actually first of the trilogy. Not a bad read though some of the science went over my O-Level physics (most long forgotten) ancomplete failure to grasp calculus in "Additional Maths". Hopefully the library will have the second book "Dark Forest" when I pop in on Monday afternoon.

I finished Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman today. Short stories, most of them good.

There are lots of Neil Gaiman books in second-hand shops now. Sadly, I've already read most of them.

some may find it of interest for LitRPG, i was looking to read a few of these so its good timing. others may find it interesting

Re-reading Stephen Baxter's primary trilogy in preparation for the next set of sequences (which I've never read). Completed Timelike Infinity last week and currently partway through Ring and will follow up with Vacuum diagrams.

Then on to the new stuff, Coalescent, Exultant, Transcendent.

I got "A Short History of Nearly Everything 2.0" by Bill Bryson so reading that.
Read the original a few times over the last few years, so will be good to see what's updated

Be worth noting that books 2-4 are more Sci-Fi than fantasy, just in case you're not into that. I enjoyed The Expanse series hence why I'm looking at those books.

Enjoy the rest of Memory of Light. It's enjoyable and the end is not disappointing. A great series overall

Just finished The Daughters War by Christopher Buehlman.

Its a grim dark fantasy book about humans battling goblins.

It took me a while to get into it, it was a bit dark in places but i enjoyed it overall. 6.5/10.

Just starting book 2 in the series.

Finished Dark Angel by J. Sandford a couple of days ago. It's the second novel in the Letty Davenport series... The story/plot was entertaining enough, and I liked the author's attention to detail regarding the plot. I do wish I'd had found out more about the characters' background/past and motivation, though.

I hadn't read the first and third book of this series, but I might get to it in the future. I rate the book 7/10.

Currently reading Midnight Line, a Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child. A friend bought me this book as a birthday present. Just started it and there's plenty of action already, so I'm enjoying it.

I finished You Like It Darker, Stephen King's latest short story collection, last night.

It was ok- maybe a 6 or 7 out of ten. Not up to the very high standard of his other collections.

I finished Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman yesterday. Read that in 2 days

It was pretty good, but ended on a completely expected cliffhanger which is irritating.

The other books in the series are expensive, even second-hand, and the library don't have them so I can't see me reading those. I also suspect they will be rather samey...
