Just checked the cost to replace just the RAM and NVMe storage in my PC and at current OcUK prices it's over £2800!!!
Currently I have no contents insurance, but at these prices I need to get some ASAP.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,831.91 (includes delivery: £7.99)

Home content insurance?
Mine let me add an item (the pc)
Which was higher value than the other
Individual items limit
That was before the insane ram prices
So think I did £2500 for pc

Forget which company
But pretty sure they all or most of them
Allow doing it
Usually it's high value jewellery/watches or similar
But was no issue with the pc
As long as it was specifically listed on the policy as
An individual high value item

Separated and divorced 5 years ago. Everything I've owned since then isn't worth replacing or can be replaced without too much cost, until now :)
Sorry to hear that. But if your property goes up in flames, don’t underestimate the cost of your belongings…
Everything costs something to replace…

I used to have contents insurance, but was out of work for a couple of years through redundancy/medical/market (post lockdown) so had to cut the non-essentials....

I forget who it was but the one I had included £5k of undeclared 'computing/electronics' equipment and was ~£120/year (probably loads more now, but everything is...)
