LG OLED 2024 thread - A4, B4, C4, G4

Quidco have 20% cashback today on Curry's. It's not quite as good as the 30% one I got for my LG C5 a few weeks back but still means you can get a good deal on many models net.

Also I'm moving home shortly and wondered if anyone has any advice on moving the LG C5/OLED screens. It's on a stand but we're going to get it wall mounted at the new place. I don't have the original packaging. Am I right in saying I'm best off just standing it in the back of a van with bubble wrap and just get someone to hold it steady, it's a reasonably short journey in London from A to B about 15 mins. I'll be gutted if anything happens as with OLEDs it always feels like a victory when you take delivery of a screen that is flawless.

That is what I've done before - on stand, fold a seat down, have someone hold it steady and drive careful.

In general if taking TVs in the car I lie them flat on a bed of packing blankets making sure they're equally supported. Take the stand off or lift the panel up so it's not flexing/stressing at the join.

Remember reading the story of someone taking home a plasma laid it flat, and heard a crack as they drove back :D

Which is it then? I’ve always done the latter for TVs but this is my first OLED so keeping it on the stand seems safer.

Upright for OLED/if I have the stand. Lying flat if it's an LED/if I don't have the stand.

Ironically I think OLED panels are a lot more resilient, we're just precious about them because of the value and quality.

I did a manual software update on my G4 via USB this morning as the TV keeps saying no update available. Nothing too spectacular added although you can now, finally, add shortcuts to your HDMI input devices e.g. games consoles to the home screen again, and hide all the other preinstalled app icons that you don't want. Worth it for that alone.

I'm looking at getting a C or a G. Not sure on the year but this year's seem to be far more expensive than when I was looking for last year's last year. As in hundreds more
