NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

theres always good old fasioned board games, game running on integrated graphics. theres always optionns
well if you see the latest steam annual review you will see only 14 percent of people are playing video games from 2025. so it just shows you most people are playing older games. the funny thing is this is only going to get worse for games companies and pc component retaiters in 2026. basically double the price ram and ssds. gpus going up from nvidia even though they got surplus amounts of gpus and why they shutting down fabrication as they arent selling well. new engines in many new games and higher spec requirements to play newer games and new consoles on the way and older consoles being dropped. so that 14 percent of people playing new games isnt going to go up with the cost of everything its going to go down further lol.

gonna be a tough year for new games and pc retailers.

I can barely think of any game i am looking forward to next year. Just Resident Evil: Requiem comes to mind. Maybe the new Onimusha game if it turns out to be any good.

I have 40+ games on my wish list plus a bunch i already own that i need to play, so no shortage of games. Just shortage of time.

What you must have missed was getting a 3080 for less than half the price was a much better strategy. With the money saved, a 4090 would have cost you a hell of a lot less :p;)
I initially thought the same, but how could I buy a 3080 when they had laughably low availability for months where I live and despite my best efforts I couldn't get one? I literally could only get hold of the 3090 and ultimately it turned out a better decision because I play VR and had just gotten into modded SkyrimVR and history showed that the 10GB VRAM of a 3080 was absolutely not enough for heavily modded Skyrim (4k textures) without stuttering. The 24GB VRAM of the 3090 paid off in the end in terms of the smooth VR performance I needed. Now somewhat ironically those xx90 halo cards seem like better and better value with every generation and I will be ordering them without hesitation.

VRAM issue turned out to be a nothing burger in the end outside of a couple of cases such heavily modded skyrim and the smash hit game that was Far Cry 6 with it's "optional texture pack" :D

Skyrim had been out for almost a decade by the time the 3080 came out, so most people were probably done playing that i would imagine :p

I agree with the rest of what you said though.

Amazing how after almost 10 years you are still a petty little troll looking to pointlessly snipe. Back on my block list you go for another x years. :)

I played FC6 up to the point you could play the Stranger Things mission and visit "the upside down" that was pretty cool but after that was a snooze fest, Pretty though.

Hi all, didn't really want to make a new thread so just seeing if anyone has any advice please. Looking at getting either the Gigabyte Windforce 5070Ti or the Asus Prime 5070Ti in the very near future, it'll be replacing a 3070 Aorus Master. With the current DDR5 and rising SSD prices I think trying to prolong my AM4 platform a bit longer (5800X3D) might be a wise idea. I have a beQuiet Straight Power 11 1200W - both cards come with adapters for the 12V connector; 2x8pin with the Gigabyte and 3x8Pin with the Asus.

I have enough PSU cables both both adapters - is one much better than the other? Or are they much of a muchness? At the moment they are both £720. Cheers.

TLDR? Let me guess. Vram is important. Yeah we know. No one said otherwise. The issue was having to pay more than double the money of a 3080 to get it.

But you know all that already.

It all turned out as predicted. More than double for more vram was a waste of money (apart from some limited cases) as one could have saved the money and got the 4090 at a bargain price :D

Well as an owner of an OG RTX 3080 10gb running @ 3440x1440 I can also confirm that all the fuss over the ram was definitely unwarranted, for £649 it's become the best value card I've ever owned.
normally the only vram becomes a issue is if the video game made isnt optimized well. its that simple. this isnt new i remember the 970 gtx farce with 3.5 vram ohhh its not 4gb how will it manage. it managed fine for all of its lifespan unless it was a crap game made by monkeys. :p

this year we also have all the new super varients for the 5 series cards coming out. with more vram. just nvidia trying to play the make us more money game.
