What a great heart warming story.

I read that last night and it hit fully in the feels, I will admit to getting a bit moist around the eyes but from joy. That does not happen often.

yeah, initially I thought he would’ve definitely tried it on with the missus but then I didn’t lol

Yes, I read through it this morning and thought what a great story to post on Christmas day. A wonderful example to share of generosity and kindness. We are going to need more of that in the new year to counter the gloom and negativity.

Reminds me of that family in America who had that black lad turn up for thanksgiving. It became a tradition and has been for a few years now. The story in the OP is a nice and sad read. I would like to think I would do something like that, you know, just rock up to a nice house and hope they take me in.. :D

As a kid in the 80"s, I remember some local disabled people with different disabilities (some like Ronnie in the story) and they were taken advantage of by other locals usually for their benefits or used to look after their kids etc.

Anyone else think Ronnie resembles Don Draper from "Mad Men" (forgive the program title)

honestly in those days it wasn't that uncommon for people to have a live in lodger anyway.

it's not like they did something no one else ever has

Thanks for posting that, really lovely story.

Wish the media would write more decent news stories, instead of the constant barrage of misery they promote.
Plenty of good news stories out there im sure.
Most people are decent and many are doing decent things.

It is a shame we only ever hear the awful news.
