Is echo pretty much everything @AMDPower already said. The only thing I can think of is that maybe this story is really about Asus possibly entering the DRAM module market and it has been misreported? Or maybe as AMDPower said, they want to partner with one of the smaller players (Nanya etc.) and get a supply agreement.off onterest to anyone
it does make me think though, if you get failed DDR5 ram, keep hold of it, and sell it as faulty it'll sell if people are using this method as they'll try and salvage the good memory modules for transplant.

ASUS Rumored To Enter DRAM Market Next Year To Tackle Memory Shortages
ASUS is rumored to enter the DRAM manufacturing segment by 2026, which should ensure a stable memory supply for its PC lineups.wccftech.com
Or just become yet another DRAM module vendor add that doesn't take billions.Surely that will only be to supply themselves and their graphics cards, desktops and laptops? I find it unlikely they'll do retail or consumer sales TBH.
Hindsight!I sold a 64gb kit on the mm for £140 a couple months ago. Retailers are selling the same kit for £850 now… Definitely not crying inside.
Ditched my AM4 platform at the wrong time too! Sold of 2x32GB for what is now a pittance, and sold the AM4 system (R5-3600, 2x16GB , RX590, SSDs etc) for not much more than the memory is worth now. Oh, and back in 2000 I sold a GTX1060 just before the shortage - it was worth over double as much a few weeks later!
Having said ask that, I am usually very bad at getting rid of old computer stuff.
