Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 28th December 2025]

Disappointing that. Should have beaten them. I spent all day at the cricket yesterday watching England have a real opportunity to beat an underperforming home side yet somehow contrive to put themselves in a losing position. Same thing here.

Wow. Can’t believe we won’t that. Don’t really deserve it.

Suppose it makes up for some lost points earlier in the season.

I wouldn't say that, Newcastle didn't offer much really at all and we had a makeshift team out there for much of the game.

yeah - bizarre line up at the end.

Heaven was excellent tonight - first class

Win ugly and 3 points - on to the next one
Heaven looked yop quality from day one TBF! I was hoping the injury early in the season didn't ruin him especially psychologically and it doesn't seem to have.

Just thinking about Neville giving the whole of the Newcastle team a reach around for the duration of the game. How many shots on target did Newcastle have?

xG suggests it should have been a draw

Bizarre.
I don't understand how Amorim tried to keep any sort of shape in the second half. Yes we had lost energy in the midfield at 60 mins as per normal with Cas and I guess he had few options especially as Mount had gone off.
He's so weak for such a big guy, why isn't he in the gym 24/7?!
Yeah - I'd happily move him on. He does very little in most games and doesn't even look like he's trying to do anything.

Cunha still too greedy. I'd be fining him for not passing the ball. Well done Dorgu. Well done Heaven. Impressive fight from them. Is it a coincidence that we had a clean sheet with MArtinez playing at CB for the first time in over a year?

Newcastle are absolutely pathetic, couldn't beat a team ravaged with injuries and Afcon. After the Ramsdale "injury", they were pressing man for man but I note they were apparently abysmal against Sunderland in their local derby. Complete try hards when they come to Old Trafford though.

Edit - I've given Dorgu plenty of flak but he was immense tonight.

Yeah hopefully that built some confidence in the team. Also managed to win without Bruno... AND Ugarte started.

Going back to the subs. I think Zirkzee for Sesko was probably to save his legs, same for Shaw and Martinez

Indeed, considering the players missing (on the pitch too in some cases) we did the best we could. I’ll take this win all day long.

Glad Carragher pointed out that Newcastle didn't really offer much aside from a few crosses. They are below Everton in the table, 11th.

We've been very patchy but have the same amount of points as Chelsea in 4th. It's quite incredible really.
