Upgrading from LG g2 to G5 worth the upgrade?

Sounds terrible.

Apparently Yuugoos is good?

Not used the bigger brands apparently firmware support is better but you're paying extra for them.

But for my use, my cheap box is fine, once codec support is an issue I just buy a new box, this my second android kodi box, not bothererd about the stock IR remote anyway (don't use it)

Best go to coreelec forums and have a read up.

If there's anywhere a TV is going to cut costs, I'd much rather it was audio pass through, as that can be worked round by anyone who particularly cares with AV equipment.
No thanks. I don't want extra remotes and boxes when I don't need to. Many nights I watch TV and sound over Bluetooth and built in DTS comes in super handy.

You have to interact with the remote constantly. It’s the one thing I’d actually want to work.

yeah not cheap though. I just bought a cheap generic box for £40, I have no need for the subscriction apps (they don't work as DRM license not working) just installed corelec on a microsd card. Even cheaper 2GB model is fine, average memory usage is about 800MB at most.

The IR remotes aren't very powerful though so you need a good universal IR blaster to replace them.

Just had a quick look about £45 for S905X4

So you cant just connect it to the tv and then watch movies from a usb, corelec software needs to be installed first? Are there any guides around showing how to do this?

I upgraded from a 65” C5 ( I think C5, could be wrong) that was almost ten years old to a 77 G5 in the BF sales and the difference is huge. Not just picture quality, the entire software interface is better although the ads are annoying. TV is connected to the home network by wifi and I thought I had a weak signal in my TV room as when watching stuff on the built in apps, particularly HBO max, was poor quality although never suffered lag while console gaming and could download games at 130mbs. Was the TV to blame, picture quality on apps on the new one are flawless.

The boxes come with android so you can install Kodi . However I've found android in background causes issues with picture quality. Processing is still on even when disabled .

Corelec is less bloaty and does proper frame rate switching

Try Kodi in android then I'd recommend getting micro SD

Yes once HDD or on LAN you can play from those I have usb HDD and connect via samba
