This Instant And Moment - 2026!

I am genuinely starting to think AI is going to cause the collapse of society, and it isn't going to be too far away.

Or at the least, collosal economic and social upheaval that will lead to massive domestic and global issues.

I actually work in AI, it's not!

I don't see how it doesn't/what the end game is.

The internet is already eroding into a total mess of AI content. YouTube, social media, Spotify etc gets more and more flooded with AI generated stuff.

Presumably AI generated text, images, videos and music etc (IE essentially the content of the internet) will become entirely undiscernible from the real thing relativey soon. What will that make of the internet?

So what is the endgame for the economy? So AI gets good enough to do virtually everything a human can do....then what?

I don't think there is nearly enough foresight applied by our leaders on this, and we are swiftly barreling towards the distopian cyberunkeseque future that many novels/films etc describe.

The public facing Ai that people are exposed to and using are very basic compared to what's actually happening outside of public view, it's quite insane what is going to happen to how people work in a few years time. Harmonic computing is one area we're on here for example but how it does what it does is new territory still but rapidly evolving.

The public stuff is just feeding LLM based systems, what we're working on goes away from LLMs entirely.

That doesn't answer the question really. If AI is made to replace pretty much everything humans do, how does society/the economy work?

It won't replace everything humans are doing now, that's the thing that's not fully understood yet because people think it will but it won't, some roles that are specific sure, but most people will no doubt be fine for a long time yet.

Lol to countries like China to see the eventual direction as they're at least a decade ahead of the West. Co-existencenwith current AI has been long established over there, watch content from travel bloggers about it especially as mainstream western media will not cover this sort of thing fairly because it makes countries like UK and USA look a bit third world by comparison.

Meh! Done that. Caught smoking at school. :)

I like the way its reported that caning is harsher that state rehab or jail. As a punishment its soon over, sore for a day or two but then over with. To be recommended.

The irony of it being turbulent going over Greenland with you going to the States :D

Just been tagged in a Facebook post of a massive photo-dump from a local shopping centre "fashion show" in 1999...

In case it isn't obvious, I'm the guy that didn't have time to hit the sun-beds on the run up to the show, as I was in the middle of my Optometry finals.

I think I did an admirable job at sucking my belly in for the entire 11 minutes I was on stage...

Last photo I am perving on guilt-free, considering we've been married for nearly 15 years...

I think the mrs looking over my shoulder thought it was the rocky horror picture show..
Looking back with older, father-of-three-daughters eyes, it was definitely an event that should have led to the organisers' hard drives coming under scrutiny.

One of the photographers, who offered some of the not-quite-18 girls "private portfolio photoshoots" ended up in court for exactly that reason...

Just found out a work colleague got completely taken to the cleaners by one of those foreign relationship scams... apparently "bought a house" out there within hours of meeting her despite his banking even spelling out to him exactly what was going to happen... I think he is still in denial though he is laughing at himself. How people fall for that just boggles my mind.

The Polish prime minister Donald Tusk has said Europe “cannot afford to be weak” in standing up to the US president Donald Trump.

In a post on X, he wrote:

Appeasement is always a sign of weakness. Europe cannot afford to be weak - neither against its enemies, nor ally.

Appeasement means no results, only humiliation.

European assertiveness and self-confidence have become the need of the moment

Car is back after staying overnight in the garage awaiting spares... waiting at bus stops in the freezing cold rain with oddballs late at night and a long trek back home from the main road, thank the lord thats over with. You don't realise how much you rely on cars until you don't have one.
