Intel Nova Lake (16th gen) on next gen platform/socket (LGA-1954)

With increasing memory prices, I wonder how it will affect pricing for next gen Intel and AMD's CPU's that use big caches

It shouldn't matter. They're fabricated as a single piece they don't buy memory in for the cache.
 
If they want consumers to buy them, they’ll need to give heavy incentives to do so. Unless people are already on a (good) DDR5 setup*, then why would they bother right now?
I’ve got a 32gb DDR5 sitting unused, but I feel like there’ll be some interesting discounts on motherboards/CPUs middle of next year, so it can sit in the drawer for now.

*For those already on this, if they are already looking at an upgrade, maybe it’s much slower stuff too? Would it be worth it with newer CPUs?

As for AMD going back to the 5800x3d in that other thread. People living in dreamland. :D

This only hold true for a small number of workloads. The more random the io, the less beneficial the extra L3 is to the point that it gets slower than not having it as it adds extra latency.

What the CEO said is a bit ambiguous seemingly!
"Along with our next-generation Nova Lake coming at the end of 2026.."

He didn't say it will actually be released, just coming, which seems vague.
No surprise, as companies don't usually confirm a release window this early.
 
Really hope Intel does well, I really like there kit, currently on a 14700k, would upgrade to intel in the future depending on the Ram Equation
 
I struggle to justify moving on from my 14700K currently, hopefully none of the degradation issues get it, I had the chance to play with some Arrow Lake systems recently and have added a couple to my setup (265 65 watt) but they leave me distinctly unimpressed overall. Outside of specific purely gaming setups there is nothing better really - you pay a massive amount more for a relatively small performance increase (outside of specific things i.e. AI processing) for anything out currently of a higher tier.
 
This should be some positive news for Nova Lake, as I have just watched a very interesting breakdown on Panther Lake, which Nova Lake will succeed

This is one of the main problems with Arrow Lake and has now been addressed.

As you can see, it has knocked a huge amount of latency off:

NGU speeds of upto 55 in this example would make upto DDR5 ~13000 M/T fully usable, whereas on ArrowLake-S the current NGU tops out anywhere from 34-36, which is equal to a maximum usable DDR5 speed from 8600-9000 M/T
