9850X3D and 9950X3D2 rumours.

Can't say this is a very exciting launch. Looking at the reviews its reminding me of the Ryzen 3000 series XT chips.

Thats basically what it is, the official performance slides showed only a few % difference and thats what it delivered. Pointless release imo.

In the U.S. they're doing bundles of cpu\ram\mobo starting from $700 for a 9850x3d, 32 gigs of ram and an Asus x870-p Prime.

Yep - basically a chance for them to cream a bit of margin for people who wanted basically the best out the box, and I suppose it gives them more wiggle room to silently drop the price on the 9800X3D if they want to, now its not the top dog that needs to stay premium.

If binning has improved, also gives them a chance to charge more for better silicon, rather than it going into a cheaper product etc. Not very exciting, but a few reasons to do it, business wise. Means they can do things with the 9800X3D they couldn't before, without being seen to discount the top part of the stack etc.

Zen Timings

Karhu (KGuiX) is running to confirm FCLK 2233 is stable

2233 Looks good

Next up is RAM scaling

While 8700 boots, Windoge gets upset

8600 boots into Windows, so I can see where it's completely stable.

Core Testings to follow

I just built a system using a 9850X3D and it gets really hot hitting 80c + at times. I’m using a Peerless Assassin dual 120mm but wondering if an AIO would help ?

Edit - Fan curve was set to silent in the bios now set to normal it stays under 75c in game.

Can anyone explain how to undervolt these. I have a B850m ASUs Tuf board. Thanks.

just about to drop a 9950x3d into my am5 rig with a pa120 that i want to go back to noctua with so il be interested in how you get on with the pa120 on the 9950x3d
im tempted to try a 3rd fan on the pa120 before i go back to the noctua though especially as the noctua overhangs the pcie slot and needs the gpu moving......

Now the bios settings are correct temps are great very occasional spikes to 75-80c but in game it sits pretty much around 65c. 2 hours of Cyberpunk and it never went above 70c. Cinebench R23 it sits at 80c but no throttling. I have read an undervolt can lower further but I need to look into that further.

I have a 240mm Arctic AIO coming today will give it a go but if temps are same as PA I will keep that.

ooooh that would be interesting
i guess i should jsut bite the bullet and drop my 9950x3d into my pc and whilst im having to use onboard igpu anyway
maybe just drop the noctua back in while i can lol..... deal with the vertical gpu issue when it hopefully comes back from
rma [hopefully will get an rma number soon] so i might just drop the cpu and hsf in and be done with it i guess lol.

I have had a 9950X3d in my Phanteks Enthoo Primo (cooling is superb on this monster!) paired up to some thermal grizzly kryonought and an acrtic freezer 2 420mm AOI. Max temps 67C under stress testing.
I also have a 9850X3d (that is replacing the 9950X3D - I just don't use the extra cores outside of testing) and it idles in the same system at 40C and maxes out at 58C!

For anyone that is curious, the 9850X3D in the real world matches the 9950X3d, there is virtually zero difference in performance in gaming that I can see (I should add I game at 5K2K so without a doubt the 4090 FE is the limiting factor).

Hope that helps!

I fitted the Arctic 240mm aio it’s better but not by much it’s about 5c cooler in game around the same under max load. It was a complete pig to fit though the thermal paste is like blutak. No idea if I got the best covering but it will do.

Will leave it a few days and see how it goes. Game performance with the 9070xt is fantastic Cyberpunk is like a new game compared to consoles.

5k2k is that a super wide? If it is I love the look of the new Asus 39" 5k super wide.
