Star Trek : Starfeet Academy (Paramount+)

EP 4 seemed better to me, they felt less like kids and more like young adults. I agree with Nitefly that the dilema felt kinda 'trek'.

Captain/chancellor/whatever she is seems to be a major weak point in the show for me, and I don't have Neils love of feet to make up for it. :D

Still wouldn't call the show good (yet), though hopefully it continues to improve.

Yeh man!

Just a shame the Captain's feet looks like grannies been walking barefoot through London

*gag*

Love Garak. Though DS9 is my favourite Star Trek, so I'm probably a little bit biased.

Likewise.

I was a bit lukewarm to it at first, but overall I think it's the best of the lot. Certainly in terms of having great supporting characters like Garak, Quark was fantastic too.

Mind you, I'm still mad about Dax. The producers messed up with replacing her imo, should have just allowed her to work a reduced role like she wanted.

Agreed. Really liked all the ferengi in DS9 tbh, and the interaction between Quark and Odo. Didn't know about Dax, I liked the replacement character, but I missed (and preferred) the original character.

I think I might be due for a DS9/B5 rewatch.....
Modern trek would be

"I shoved a datapad into my nostril"
Hey now, just because there's a Total Recall superfan in the far future we shouldn't be too harsh. Praise their dedication to Arnie

in all seriousness, the I swallowed my combadge was a proper wtf moment.

Aye, the actress was suffering really bad burnout and had some other issues. She requested a more diminished role for the upcoming season, less screen time etc, the producers refused and killed her off.

Absolutely idiotic move on their end imo.

Looked like issues with one of the writers(?) or producers(?) from what I got off a very quick google.

Well me and the Mrs watched the 1st episode tonight.
Not sure what I was expecting after suffering through the utter gash that was Discovery and the ups and downs of Strange New Worlds and Season 2 of Picard....

Well after 1 episode I can honestly say we are already out, I don't even know what this was but it wasn't Trek, at least not the Trek that I grew up with.
The writing and dialogue seems like it was written by people that only talk to others via Whatsapp.

I dont know how or where they keep finding these basement level writing graduates but they'd be better served by chucking an idea at Chat GPT because it wouldn't be able to serve up something this bad.

It's a mix of Nepotism and the didn't earn it brigade, we were all supposed to go along with the message quietly.

Aye, it's a mixture of complicated and guess work to a degree.

Still, I'd take DS9 post OG Dax over anything I've seen since to be totally honest. I'm possibly being a bit unfair there as Enterprise did grow on me, it was just a bit too jarring in relation to the big three (TNG/Voyager/DS9) when it first came out, it literally launched the same year Voyager ended.

I gave up half way through ep3. It felt way too much like Harry Potter in space

Same I actually turned it off, usually is just ignore it in the background. Another taking the lore of ST and doing a great big dump on its head. Maybe Klingons were to much toxic masculinity?

Watch is a very very loose term. I've watched 2 episodes I've disliked half of one and turned it off.
Will I try again, probably, will I moan and say it's rubbish again, yes very likely but I will only do that a few times more and give up. It's not like I'm enjoying the show and choosing for some odd reason to slander it despite it's merits (which at the moment are scarce) However there will always be someone who thinks they're smart that points this out.
