Yeah obviously a downside is the lock in to Nvidia cards again like before, monopolies are never good. But it might be a while before AMD have a competing solution, I wonder when they do if it will work on current screens or if it will be a Freesync situation again where you would need a new one.
I don't think they'll bother competing on this one, as it's a very niche product, and probably not worth the investment, when it can be spent elsewhere especially as the monitor itself costs as much as their current top gpu's
Once these hit £300 or so they'll have mainstream appeal.
