I am currently getting really frustrated. I've got a puffy coat that keeps my warm, but given its *constant* rain I need something better.

Waterproof or highly water resistant
No hood
Warm ( fleece lining or similar)
Looks relatively decent

Any recommendations?

Barbour wax jacket or similar. Lasts for decades. Puffer jackets are for chavs. No dry robes either.

I would never go for a warm jacket now, just a quality waterproof and layer up as it's easy to layer down , mountain equipment Lhotse is the best jacket I've had , I mean the hood doesn't have to be out,. pit zips are great , and it's been 100 percent waterproof so far, also it hasn't been adopted as street wear by these poor common folk you hear about so that's a bonus

Mountain Equipment's stuff in general is great. Bought a couple pairs of trousers from them, which have been excellent.

get the 'three in one' or 2 in one or diy it and just get a out jacket with a double YKK zip thta lets you zip a fleece, or gillet inside it. Best of both worlds. berghaus used to do a decent variant. but all the brands do it.

r just go to literally any outdoor shop and see what they have.

Depends what you want it for OP and if you intend to visit area's full of brand 2 penny snobs.

Plenty of options out there tbh

I wouldn't spend barbour money, not when you can get something like this for less than £40

or get this but it's the wrong colour, but you need a machete also

I have 3 different Barbours depending on what the actual weather is but have also had good coats from Trespass and Mountain Warehouse.

Mrs got a big parka from Timberland at Cheshire Oaks one time and she loves that when it's rainy and cold

I've already mentioned my mountain equipment Lhotse but just to say I've never had a budget brand that's not wetted out ,.just looking at the specs of an expensive mountain warehouse jacket mine has 18000mm more hydrostatic head, it's like headphones I just buy superb once rather than average 10 times

Just get a wind & water proof jacket then wear a jumper underneath. Layers is what give you warmth. The air in between, it's how your puffy jacket works.
