Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 23rd February 2026]

Familiar midfield sag from United. Casemiro knackered. Mainoo also has dropped off. The whole team looks gassed other than Sesko. Shows how desperate we are for midfield signings. Everton's energy has been much better than ours which is concerning.

Mainoo doesn't dictate the midfield tempo. If we are playing nicely he dovetails brilliantly at times but he doesn't take the game by the scruff of the neck. Casemiro just doesn't have 90 minutes of legs in him.

Shaw, what are you doing. Let Tarkowski cook!

Thats two really really poor games in a row there. Its not a lack of ideas, its a complete lack of energy or application. Slightly concerning. Perhaps against teams that give it a go we will do better but Carrick needs to show that he can get more from these players when the impetus is on us to dictate the game.

Is the attacker touching the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper touching the attacker?

Opponent is always the aggressor when attacking. It's clearly a tactic* used to negate the defending GK from having clear movement. I like the suggestion about about giving the GK a small area where players can't enter at CKs.

*crap one at that, I mean Sunday League teams can do it, hardly an elite level skill is it?

I have to say, he's never quite perfect but overall Lammens has generally been excellent since he joined.

He done really well however is it just me ive noticed he starts abit nervy it seems got abit lucky in a few games of late giving ball away.

Not an easy game but got the job done.

No massive saves, but easily my MOTM tonight. Came and got his hands to a lot of the balls lobbed in, without pushing it into danger areas and generally eased presssure a lot.

Sesko comes on - we score with best move of the game.

Backs to the wall performance and Lammens was probably man of the match for me. Been excellent calming influence since his arrival

3 points - back into top 4 - not pretty but a win all the same.

In fairness the Sesko goal came against run on play, Everton were enjoying a lot of possession in our 3rd and were more open as a result. It's the typical run of play goal we know we can score, but god did we not move the ball quick enough when we were in possession. That's what Arsenal and City do well, they'll still get results versus defensive minded teams.

Quite right to single out Lammens. He's been a huge bonus this season. No way BAyinder or Onana withstands that pressure from all those corners. Maguire was immense tonight. On that form I'd extend him another year. I know he's got his limits but there are few better defending the box.

Yet the media is rubbing one out over Mainoo ever since Amorim went. I don't think he's good enough. Being good in tight spaces isn't enough.

Overall, you can't moan about an away win but Everton were very limited and we created almost nothing. Very sloppy in possession, lack of movement in final third and lacking in energy for the last 20 mins. We also only had Sesko on the bench as a game changer. Tonight it was enough but when you look at the squad Arsenal have compared to our it's a different league.

Its a tactic to stand your ground. You can't possibly be in favour of stopping that?
