If it was another driving doing it (imagine Stroll doing the same thing!) we'd all be calling them a wet wipe.
Because Stroll has never done anything useful, ever. If it was Hamilton, I'm sure many would be in agreement with his decision.
Verstappen has made his opinions on British journalists pretty clear in the past. I can't say I feel sorry for old Giles at all. :D

But the question wasn't even asked in this press conference? Max saw a person in a room and told him to leave or he wouldn't speak - I think that's the issue here.

The question that was asked in AD25 relating to Max in Spain is what it is. A stupid question that would get a stupid answer.

That same question was not even asked this time and Max wanted the other kid to go play somewhere else. I don't think that's right. Giles is a good journalist, his articles are always really enjoyable to read.

Shocker as Max behaves like a spoilt child

Shame the clocks change Sat night. Getting up at 5.30am is going to feel like 4.30am right?

From a journalistic perspective, it's a logical question to ask, you just have to look at how many people brought it up in discussion during the title run-in.

It's certainly not a nice question, and I'd agree with Max that it's an example of cherry picking given all the other things that happened in the season... but ultimately that incident did cost him the title, and it was an incident that he had control of, unlike DNFS etc...

I'm surprised he holds beef over it tbh, his original response to the question was pretty fair I thought. I'd have just left it at that.
I get that, but it really was a stupid question. Max actually said it best "If if if, if my mom had balls she'd be my dad".

Not condoning Max's behaviour but if your entire job is to ask a question or 2 over a weekend, at least think of something that adds value. "What if" questions are usually lazy and probably asked to create drama. What if Norris didn't bottle 60% of his starts? What if McLaren didn't get DQ'd because of plank wear? What if Kimi didn't have a snap that allowed Lando to overtake?

Drama is value, that's the root of the problem - drama drives engagement, more engagement equals more income.

Yeah I completely agree that the original question was stupid and I think Max was right at AD25 to respond in the way he did to it. I honestly wouldn't have even answered at all, there are countless things that go into a season and his error and decision in Spain was 1 of many things.

I think it's wrong that Max refused to even kick his press conference off today because the journalist who asked that question at the end of last season is simply in the room. I don't think that should ever be seen as a good thing.

It is the unfortunate state of things, although I don't know who actually bothers paying subscriptions or wants to deal with the plague of ads on these sites.

I think it's a great thing. Maybe we'll see less trash-tier journalism going forward.
F1 is just a social media sport now, and that's not a good thing. Losing a few journalist opinions is *not* a bad thing.

I remember Toto allegedly tried to get McEvoy yeeted out of the paddock a few times because of his coverage of Hamilton in the Daily Mail. At least that's what McEvoy claimed...

Im sure there are several examples over the years, it's just the trigger point for this one seems rather low.

Edit: Giles has responded, but doesn't say much beyond being disappointed.

My years as a dev porting the F1 games to crapper platforms gave me a deep seated hatred of this track which always sours my enjoyment of the weekend but it's also a great track so I'm hoping for another banger after the first two races.

Let's not forget the race was made all the worse by the comical grass fires every 3 minutes.
Hope it rains, or they've at least watered the grass weeks in advance...

The rules were changed so they run a different plank compound if grass fires are a risk now.

And the cars aren't running as low as the ground effect ones did...

Both Mercedes the first to go out and do a lap on softs, yet the fast laps of them *still* looked like a heavy fuel warm-up or cool-down lap. Wildly slow round this track.

Russell: "What’s this idiot doing?"
Engineer: "Not sure"
Russell: "Who was that?"
Engineer: "Perez"
Russell: "Must be Perez, obviously."

Handbags out.

Edit: Lawson properly blocked by a Williams. Looked like Lawson had just ran off/rejoined, and whoever was driving that took it personally. I quite like Lawson now. Definitely got his head screwed on this year.

Edit2: Collision between Albon and Perez. Seemed like Albon almost going for an overtake, Perez had no idea where he was. Maybe George Russell’s snark is justified. :D

McLaren at least seem to have some pace here.

Weird to see a crash in FP, seems like driver miscommunication.
