Morning Jamie,
Does type of drawings are standard in a architectural practice, they be all sorts of drawing from 1:50, 1:200 and down to drawings of specific fittings. I expect what they have done is just import the DWG issued by manufactures which will have a high level of detail by default...
Jamie,
The giant PDF really are not going to help. Might be worth speaking to them about the level of details. Architects like to put the most detail they can on it, down to the thread on a screw. This will just balloon the size of the PDF and as my CAD manager mate said to our users "hairy...
Jamie, Just a thought as I was walking back from the Kitchen. If you wanted the data to stay hosted you should look at Autodesk 360 as a solution. It will handle the CAD/Project data much better than SharePoint could.
Jamie,
Coming from a large Architectural practice and having great experience in SharePoint (hosted internally) I would never recommend putting in live CAD drawings, either Autodesk or Bentley, into that environment. So the same could be said about hosted SharePoint too.
SharePoint should...
Steve09,
Ive use PDQ Deploy in the past for small scale deployments and updates. There is various different versions but may from free to enterprise. The paid versions gives you access to there library of software. You may find the cost justify the expense and time you spend on doing it via GPO.
Capt, I'm in a similar boat with my career life also. I want to move on from my position I have been in for the last 9 years. Unfortunately when I decided it was time to move the recession hit and I've also been trying to look every since. Have to say the market has picked up in the last year...
No scroll down and read the thread. You can do this via Content Editor Web Part also if you do a search your self you can find more examples http://sharepointadmin.wordpress.com/2010/04/02/cewpimagemap/
So you want to do image mapping? Quick Google response came back with this:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/3d386e37-83a8-4ed9-bd0a-eccafc1adf7b/how-to-make-image-map-on-sharepoint?forum=sharepointgenerallegacy
When I have had problems like this in the past it just as easy to create the list manually, change the list to edit in datasheet and then cut and past the columns in.
I agree FreeAgent looks like a great product and a great price. Something I will keep a note of in future to use.
But if Sharepoint is the route you want to go I would look for a pre-made webpart rather than waste your time developing something. Look over codeplex and see if anyone can help you...
Several options I can see:
1. Say your going to leave unless they send you a free superhub. Make sure its a Mark2 so it actually works!
2. Damage the 250 in someway and get them to come out to fix it. Find the engineers are bit more happy to give you what you want.
3. Purchase a new wifi router...
Spunkey, thanks for that. That is a thing they also asked for but for the time being we just wanted twitter to display the image on there feed and not a link. It works fine doing a selfie from a phone but trying to do it from a computer seems to only produce a link.
Morning,
A colleague at work came to ask me today about how you embed a picture into twitter. We can successfully do one from my phone with a personnel image. But when trying to do it via the website it comes up as a link. She said she uploaded a image to her iPad and tried it also but that...
As all ways RTFM before setting up or using a major product like this :)
Jez, just saw the post about the yesterday about the still going with the smart hosts. Remember look at the cost of these compared with hosted Exchange. Hosted Exchange will do all that smart hosts do plus more for...
Jez,
Simple Google comes back with this http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2011/12/22/office-365-integration-module-for-windows-sbs-2011-essentials-released-today.aspx . Should be fine, it will just let you sync your AD with 365 and SBS. Not sure how easy 1&1 is to setup with AD integration...
Jez, I work for a very large architects practice but also helped and advised on many smaller ones over the years as staff have gone off to run there own business.
Big question, why setup Exchange internally for such a small group of people? personnel I would look at a hosted solution that can...
