I find having a Photoshop, Indesign, Acrobat and Illustrator open and maybe a couple of browser windows things start to slow down slightly, with an occasional annoying pause. I work in Print design, so that software is pretty much a normal day.
I am not the most patient of human beings though...
A gift from my wife for my birthday is the upgrade reason. I hadn't given it much thought before so I'm considering options and if its actually worth doing. Im not sure I would see much real world difference between my cpu and an i7, or at least not enough to be worthwhile, or am I wrong?
It...
I currently run:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500
ASUS H170 PRO GAMING
16GB Crucial DDR4 2133 (4x4GB)
GTX 1660 Ti
Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB
Seagate 1TB HDD
Fastest upgrade I can go on this motherboard is a 7700k, and they are £200+ second hand.
In real world am I actually going to see much...
I worked late shift 12-8 or 2-10 for over 20 years, so when I started my last job getting up at 6:15am for an 8am start was a shock to the system.
I was so used to still being awake at 2-3am I just couldn't get to sleep any earlier even though I was tired. So I spent the first couple of weeks...
I am ex military, if people want to put up bunting and sing a few songs to make themselves feel better, carry on.
Not for me though, it should be a commemoration of something 75 years ago, not a celebration.
Looks like my keyboard is screwed, have disabled it now and am using a plugged in USB keyboard. I didn't realise plugging in an external would not disable the built in board.
Off to search Ebay for a new (old) laptop..
That was one of my first thoughts. OSK shows everything is OK with both shift keys too. Annoying really, its been sat in a drawer for months as I bought it as a holiday laptop for light browsing and to play films. I need it now though as I have 3 kids all at home with one PC and the (now dead)...
Hi All.
I have a very odd issue where it looks like a shift key is held down. !"£$%^ instead of 12345 etc.
I have tried changing the settings on sticky keys, changing default language, uninstalling the keyboard, updating the driver, resetting Win10 and even plugging in an external USB keyboard...
I left a job after working for 12 years 3 weeks ago. First week went OK, 2nd week I was in self isolation and the third week I have been furloughed.
As I started after 28 Feb I am not entitled to claim JSR. I have been out of work for a total of 2 weeks in the past 34 years, but that's a rant...
Indeed I do, or did - Some decent ones too. Unfortunately the rivers up my way have been totally decimated by Otters, so I rarely fish at all anymore unless I travel up to the Severn / Wye.
Very nice Indeed. I would mess that up in about 5 minutes.:D After working from home this week I have order sheets, phones, vape mods, tea cups, pens, pencils, usb sticks, cleaning cloths, notepads, and a pencil pot on my desk right now!
I prefer using cash, helps me budget properly too. Handing over cash makes you think twice about splurging on something you don't need. Old fashioned I know :_)
I always promise myself a really nice watch then every time I have a bit of cash I end up going on a Cruise or buying a new car.
Have several watches. Most <£100
A cheap and comfy Casio, a Casio TX, a Seiko 5, and a couple of Skagen watches as I love the weight and style of them.
Not as fancy...

Seemed like the future at the time to me, and never got off the ground.
Agreed on the Glasses. I'm sure in the near future it will surface again.
