Thanks. The only games that have stood out as sub-max GPU utilisation so far are BG3 and Borderlands 3. I understand BG3 is CPU limited for the most part and I am hoping Borderlands 3 is just poorly optimised - DX12 maxes the GPU but seems to crash frequently when I've tested it.
My 3DMark...
Thanks for all the advice.
Semi-related, am I gimping my setup with this CPU running with DDR4 or is there not much a benefit going to DDR5 for gaming at this stage?
Thanks. Would you say the switch to a 14500 from a 12400F was sub-optimal? I was cautious of the higher TDP chips given my current B660 board and my understanding that the VRMs would be an issue.
I recently upgraded from a 12400F to a 14500. I went for this upgrade as a quick improvement as I was upgrading my case to accommodate the length of my new 4080 Super (RIP my old Antec 1200) and I didn't want to upgrade my MSI B660M A PRO. I am running 32GB of DDR4 @ 3600.
Most games are seeing...
The noise still hasn't come back.
Doesn't seem like many people had the same fan issue as me but if you do get it on a new unit, try giving it a few unbearable days.
Dell have agreed to the warranty replacement. They will send me a panel and then take the old one the next day.
Bizarrely, after two days of the loud fan issue, it seems to have stopped as of this morning. Been using the monitor for a few hours and nothing yet... I'll give it a few days.
This isn't normal.
I have asked Dell to kick off the warranty replacement process - hopefully they send me a new panel and exchange it for this one vs. me having to send it all back.
I wish it was me being picky. It is extremely audible.
When my girlfriend gets home I will ask for a second opinion but I am confident that this would drive anyone to distraction!
Managed to rustle up a fairly unrepresentative recording with my phone: https://vocaroo.com/1n7Em9V3WVao
There is a load of ambient noise to get dig through but can you hear the almost chirpy/clicky note?
I dream of a low fan tone - this is definitely a clicky type sound. Almost similar to when the bearings are going on a case fan and you have to tap them to now and then...
I received mine yesterday.
Love the monitor so far - but the fan noise - is this normal? I know there is meant to be an audible fan noise that is easily masked by content.
After a few minutes of operation it starts and it has almost a raspy/clicky sound to it - I could live with a blowing type...
My Dad sold a car on Motorway.co.uk last year. Pretty much got what the Auto Trader ads were going for. Really good service by all accounts. I’m planning to use them when I sell mine. Seem to offer a lot more than WBAC too.
I upgraded my 4.5GHz 3570k to an 8600k last year after trying to play FFXV on a 2070S @ 3440x1440. I was getting close to full CPU utilisation.
Admittedly, FFXV isn't very well optimised but even games like GTAV were pushing the 3570k to the limit.
4k will ease the burden but my understanding...
Found how to compare my results with 3DMark. Average score is 6138 and my result is 6160.
Would you expect pci-e bandwidth to be a factor in these benchmarks?
