Upgrading 4090 to 5090 - minimising upgrade cost.

I could afford a 4090 (or a 5090 when they come out, assuming they're under £5k :P ), but I still cba to spend that much on a GPU - £700 was pushing it. My 7900XT does everything I need it to (apart from 1 game - Ark:SA). I'll ride it out for 1-2 more generations or maybe pick somehing up used...

What back GPU/s do you have ?

Yeah I've always recommended for years spending the extra bit, especially in threads where it seems like it's a first PC on intel...obviously for AM4 the G series weren't worth the trade-off

    Does that support UEFI? :D

What back GPU/s do you have ?

Too many, mainly because I'm too lazy to get around to selling them, plus I put them in to second systems. I also used to pass them on/loan them to friends, but haven't had the need for the last few years. Still got my 3060ti (will go in my second system when I rebuild it) 1070 (will probably...

not sure about price, but when my parents have been to Spain somewhat recently, they've been able to buy 800-1200mg ibupoforen/paracetamol over the counter

    Best thermal paste

Have no idea what the absolute best is, but I've been using MX4 for years and it's always been fine, plus dirt cheap (just coming to the end of an 8g tube that I've used on mine and friends builds since 2017, will probably buy a 20g for £15 next time around which will likely last me until almost...

3060ti was like £1400 at one point.. got a 7900XT for £699, so basically double performance for half the price :P (ok, yeah, I got my 3060ti for £369, so double the performance for double the price... Jensen-Wang would have us beleive that Moore's law is dead)

    Would you tip game devs?

So... looking in to some numbers (from what I can find with a quick search): GTA 5 had approximately 1000 devs and scored $1B in around 3 days, bare in mind this was 360/PS3 only, not including PC release, XB1/PS4 remasters, or GTA online (with all the associated shark cards!), apparently...

    Would you tip game devs?

For free to play games (mainly indie, that aren't overwhelmingly P2W) then yeah, fair enough. Or games that were cheap on early access and continued to support the game and maybe add content for early adopters (i.e. Kerbal Space Program 1: Bought it very early on for around £11 and got all the...

Yep, was happy enough with my 7900XT at £699 but the launch price was a joke, even £750 now is a bit much. (and the GRE at ~530 is far more compelling) The only thing that would tempt me to move at the moment is a used 4090 at around £700-750, once the new cards are released. (That may be...

    Relaxing Games

Agree with World of Goo as well as something like ETS2. (oh... and 'My Summer Car') Another older title I don't see mentioned is 'Eufloria' (I've only played the classic version not the HD one) - Basically just plant trees, migrate spores to other planets, rinse and repeat.... Very easy to play...

Upgrading Nvidia Gefore 1080 Ti Option

Last I looked, CoD seems to favour AMD... For the top end of the budget you could maybe find a cheap-ish 7800XT, but if you can stretch the extra £100 then I'd personally go for the 7900GRE Pulse (I have 7900XT pulse and it's a great card/cooler, but I would have gone 7900GRE for 150 quid...

Which games do you like to test a new GPU with ?

That seems mad for a 4090.... or is that FULLY maxed out (like 8x MSAA)? - Could have sworn I was getting around that or better on my 7900XT at 4K (but probably lowered AA and maybe a few other things... I've reinstalled windows since so I can't check) Anyway, for what I'd use to test...

I did notice the machining marks, but I'm quite keen on that sorta stuff (like clear coat bike frames where you can see the heat marks from welding!)

Nooo don't paint it! I know the build concept kinda requires it but I think it would still look good with that part as bare metal!

What AMD cpu for a budget gaming build?

Since I still had the rest in my basket.... 5600, 32GB, ATX board (pre-order!) and nicer case (but then we're well in to budget stretching territory!): My basket at OcUK: 1 x Sapphire Radeon RX 6600 Pulse Gaming 8GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card (SKU: GX-39R-SP) = £199.99 1 x Lexar NM620 1TB...
