    Networking help

What router is it, and how have you got it connected to the ethernet port provided? It sounds like you're using one of the switch ports (so you basically already have the switch you're talking about); you'd be better using the router as a router (i.e. connecting the ethernet port to the WAN...

    Help with multi router/bridge wireless

Not off the top of my head...I've never used GTTeam and it's been years since I looked at a 585v6. You've probably got a better chance of the DG834GT doing it at all though. You're looking for some sort of "wireless client/client bridge" option.

    Help with multi router/bridge wireless

If you're only using one of the routers to give the TV a connection to the wireless network, one of them should be configurable as a wireless client - meaning you don't need to use WDS at all. MAC filtering and not broadcasting your SSID are both pointless "security" features; at best they'll...

Anything I can do to increase my broadband speed?

Double is perhaps not the best choice of term - decibels are logarithmic :p It's possible it's higher than default for stability reasons; if you resync (i.e drop and reconnect the ADSL) and it reconnects at that (with a similar rate) then it's obviously been set so. SNR will typically vary...

    Where's tolien?

I'm not dead, I just have other things to do! (Tute pointed this thread out to me; it may have been better if he hadn't, my intention is to not suddenly increase the amount of time I waste^Wspend here) It is. Assuming you're @Pete_TeamBT who followed me the other day, I didn't get it because...

    CPDN: Wake up call!

Oh my. I'd give you a race (got an i7 and a X2 3800+ sitting here), but I like my office non-tropical ;)

    o2 LLU - wow!

Technically ADSL2 (not 2+) should be the best option if >1MHz is attenuation to oblivion, not to mention all the ADSL2 features that aren't present in ADSL (though I have no idea how many of them are actually used by Be). YMMV.

    o2 LLU - wow!

ADSL and ADSL2 use exactly the same frequency range. ADSL2 gets an extra 4Mbps by virtue of being more efficient.

New fibre exchange list, now including FTTP!

There's evidence in so far as there's the regulatory steps for an LLU-with-fibre product and it seems unlikely they'll stick with ADSL2+ forever. As far as I'm aware they've never come out and said they're going to do anything with FTTC but you wouldn't expect that till they're close to selling...

    best router for gaming

If it's just your ping, are you sure the issue is the Home Hub? Unless something else is using the connection at the same time, the router doesn't make that much difference to your ping times. The largest component of it is the trip from you to the whichever server you're interested in and...

    best router for gaming

Like the Home Hub 2 he already has, if it can be talked into working in bridge mode. You'd need to look at a second hand WRT54G now though to get one that would run Tomato. If you're buying new you'd be looking for a WRT54GL or a WRT*N (the latter should be faster, wireless aside, if nothing else).

    Random MAC address - why?

Dodgy BIOS battery? They're not really as fixed as claimed but obviously it shouldn't be changing when you reboot.

    Good Wireless solution

They're six and half a dozen mainly. If you're planning on transferring much data between the machines wireless is going to be awful.

Can I use the Netgear DG834N with a VDSL connection?

The WNR2000 is exactly the type of router I suggested you'd want.

Can I use the Netgear DG834N with a VDSL connection?

You're probably looking for something without a modem, i.e. marketed for use with a cable service. You'd then connect the modem you get to the ethernet WAN interface on that in exactly the same way as if you had cable. The other issue will be getting something that can handle the throughput - a...

    Linksys WRT320N ICMP Pings

Yes, it's possible, but I can't remember exactly where in the default firmware the option is. By default it should respond to echo requests on the LAN interface.

    Cisco Home Networking by Linksys

They're just the normal Linksys routers though.

    Is this true?

Port forwarding to...what? Without connecting the 585 to the Draytek's WAN interface, which if it's got an ADSL modem attached isn't possible, you've just turned the Draytek into an overpriced switch which won't function any better than the 585's (unless they're GigE, but the point stands)...

    Is this true?

If you plug it into one of the switch ports on the Draytek, you might as well not bother. You're only using it as a switch so you're gaining nothing at all, especially with the 585 in bridged mode (so you'd only be able to connect one device too).

    land line help urgent

There's no issue with connecting the modem to the ADSL side of a filter. If you only have one socket there should be no issue with double filtering (i.e. connecting an extension to the voice side of a filter then the modem to the other end - it won't work).
