Read my post again. I quite clearly prefaced my comments by fully acknowledging it was a "first world problem".
Ben is posting on here for his job. He's in sales and clearly as can be seen from posts on here the reputation of EVGA as offering strong customer service works in their favour...
Look I know this is properly a first world problem and there's been a fair bit of OTT grumbling on here but this is the kind of mistake that really hits your/the company's reputation for customer service and reliable information.
You've been posting for days about the thursday delivery so...
I didn't realise that could happen. I'd got up to 36 earlier this week so thought I'd be safe for this first batch. Will be quite frustrating at this point if I end up in the second batch (or worse!) having waited this long, given I ordered on the friday they were announced.
I've got a back...
All the wavering and order switching by the rest of you has meant I had confirmed this morning my FTW order is now at position 36.
Hopefully will be gaming on it this weekend then!
Some games it's good with, it flew with BF4.
But over the last few years it's just not been any good.
IRC: MGSV runs well with it. The Witcher 3 just about supports it, scaling isn't great though IMO. GTAV launched with it but has issues if you turn some affects on.
Fallout 4 doesn't...
As someone who's been running Crossfired 280X's for a couple of years there's no way in hell I'd ever consider going for RX480 in crossfire, no matter the price.
The driver support for Crossfire is terrible. At best you get support a month or 2 after release of new titles and then it's shoddy...
After all the panic (come on lets be honest, that was what we were doing!) over the last week about how expensive the custom cards would be I'm glad to see my shakey optimism turned up to be worth having.
Decided to plump for the EVGA FTW. I've not had a high end GPU before and I decided if...
Nope, my post was a bit unclear though.
The FTW is $10 more than the FE and the SC is cheaper than the FE by about $30.
So what I'm saying (and hoping!) is that the custom cards hopefully will range between £550 to £650 and not get into silly figures like £700+
There's a Canadian retailer that's got it's price up for the EVGA FTW, when converted it works out as roughly £490 shipped!
Their FE cards are also much cheaper as well. Obviously VAT increases that price for us but hopefully it's an indicator the custom cards will be sub £600.
Yeah, all my optimism from my earlier posts is gone now. Can't see these custom cards being cheaper than the FE's.
Might try and wait it out now. Not for the 1080ti, as this same silly pattern will probably occur again for that.
My hope now is after a month or maybe two if AMD have got their...
$1299 Australian dollars is ~ £637.
So that puts them at the same price as the FE cards, but Australia is known for having even worse rip-off prices than us!
I agree that the logic of the custom cards being as expensive as FE cards is sound. If the customs are ~£70 cheaper and better...
I'm still kind of hopeful about the AIO cards prices. I think there's (just about!) hope.
They did announce the lower price originally, so surely some cards have to be close to that. I know the whole throttling issue has meant that for most people on here the Founder Editions aren't appealing...
Yep as an AMD crossfire owner the impression I had following the release of games like Witcher 3 and various Ubisoft ones was that SLI performed far better.
My problem was I went into Crossfire blind and just thought if I pay double the price (by buying 2 cards) then I'd just automatically get...
This is the dilemma I'm almost having as well.
Last time I bought a GPU I went with mid-range (280X) thinking I'd Crossfire later on to get a performance bump. When I got a bonus in work about 8 months later I went ahead and crossfired.
It was the worst mistake I've made with gaming in...
I'm in agreement with everyone else these prices are too high.
I am going to upgrade from my crossfired 280X's this year. Planning on a 1080 and bought a 1440p monitor to take better advantage of it.
If these had been £550ish I'd probably have pre-ordered straight away. But with these prices...
Just seen the reviews for the 970 and feeling a little tempted to get one. The problem is I only bought a 280X back in Jan and stuff runs fine on it.
I've never bothered to sell on cards before (nothing I had was really worth looking into it) but it would be necessary in this case. I've seen...
Nice one thanks guys.
Cooling wise I think my PC is pretty decent. It's got three case fans and I've got a 212 EVO on my cpu. The case is a an IN WIN that has a grate over the cards so hopefully a lot of air gets out that way. It certainly stays very quiet so I've presumed that's a sign...
I've not used Crossfire before, but all these E3 videos have me wondering what it would take to really max out settings on games.
I've got an i7 4770K, a G1 Sniper Z87 and an MSI R9 280X. It runs most things really well, BF4 is 1080p @ ~60fps in Ultra (with x2 MSAA I think).
But I recently...
Anyone know if the 14.2 drivers are meant to properly support 280X's on Mantle yet?
I'm guessing not but I can't find any info confirming that. I just tried BF4 with Mantle and had no improvement, it jumps up and down as more stuff goes on and then crashed the game when I tried to quit. DX11 on...
