I used one of these for a family PC last week and for the price it is super solid! I've used £150 cases and this impressed me for the price I must say. (non-windowed one, £29.99 paid)

You are correct, for gaming the extra "cores" wouldn't make a difference. I have an i7 for other reasons, and I have found that it helps a *tiny* bit (in new AAA titles), but I wouldn't buy an i7 for just gaming purposes.

Lost a 3TB hard drive a couple weeks ago, nothing super important but was about half full with a bunch of films and music I'd spent ages collecting. Bit of a bummer. But it gave me the motivation to sort out my storage server again... So that's better than nothing I guess!
