What spec to run ESXi and a few VMs

Depending on what you're hosting, a NUC would totally be enough - I went a bit overboard and bought a job lot of mini PCs off ebay for about £800 and I've clustered them using Proxmox. I run a whole bunch of services (Pihole, Home assistant, CCTV server, game servers, Omada controller etc.) so I...

Vacancies - Fancy working for us?

I'm extremely surprised to see you have a software developer role available! Although that does seem like a lot of hours! Straight out of uni I got a couple job offers, both of which were 37.5 hours a week. Although that obviously isn't the whole story, so I'm not one to judge without knowing...

** WE HAVE A NEW LAPTOP CONTENDER: WELCOME EVGA SC17 GAMING LAPTOP!! **

Not exactly the same market! I'd buy this laptop in a flash if I didn't have room for a decent gaming setup.

** IN WIN H-TOWER - BECAUSE OPTIMUS PRIME COSTS TOO MUCH **

Can confirm, would love this case. Looks unbelievably awesome...! I hope they make a cheaper, more mainstream version in future! Would be an awesome DIY project to try and replicate this, although it would probably cost about the same anyway if the same materials were used.

** BITFENIX NEOS - NOW IN 3 NEW FLAVOURS **

I used one of these for a family PC last week and for the price it is super solid! I've used £150 cases and this impressed me for the price I must say. (non-windowed one, £29.99 paid)

Your best CPU's over the years?

3 CPUs so far: 2500K - My first, and what a processor. Unfortunately I didn't win the silicon lottery, and it struggled to get over 4.5GHz with a Corsair H70 cooling it before the volts got silly. Swapped that for a 2600K, that now lives in my server at home. Got myself a 4790k in my current...

    Gaming PC - £600/700 Budget

You are correct, for gaming the extra "cores" wouldn't make a difference. I have an i7 for other reasons, and I have found that it helps a *tiny* bit (in new AAA titles), but I wouldn't buy an i7 for just gaming purposes.

GET 20% OFF GAMES! @ Greenman Gaming - Discount code inside

Used to get GTA 5 and Skylines as well, although it was £61.99 for both. Maybe cause it was the Skylines deluxe edition? Oh well. Code works :)

    Your 2015 computer disasters

Lost a 3TB hard drive a couple weeks ago, nothing super important but was about half full with a bunch of films and music I'd spent ages collecting. Bit of a bummer. But it gave me the motivation to sort out my storage server again... So that's better than nothing I guess!

Crucial release new BX100 range of SSDs for the consumer

** YOUTUBE & TWITCH STREAMERS - RAZER SEIREN IS COMING **

Had my deathadder for 7 years, and i had a Blackwidow ultimate 2012 and they replaced it for free when an LED died, with a Blackwidow Ultimate 2013. No questions asked. I sold that to a friend recently and got a K95, for the RGB switches and the macro keys, which I use for programming and...

A gaming system for £350? Is this even possible?

Ouch :o Hope you hit them :p My 780 was off the MM - about 60% cheaper than new. Same goes for a lot of components. Definitely consider second hand.

A gaming system for £350? Is this even possible?

Building second hand isn't too bad, especially from the MM on Overclockers, i've always found that people take good care of their hardware on here and are generally good at replying etc. I've done a few trades on there and it isn't bad at all. Don't be scared of it :) I have some stuff that I...
