I have a friend,he is using an old i3 dual core,overclocked to4.2,with a 6850,he is wanting to upgrade his gpu ,what is the best card to go for ,that won't bottleneck his cpu,he plays a lot of wow and lol.?He also has 4gb ram,windows 7.
I have the Gigabyte x3 670,it is basically silent on idle ,even with a decent overclock,and whilst gaming or benching stays cool and quiet,obviously compared with 79 cards not quite such good value,but if your after nvidia,and quiet ,I can recommend this card,obviously silicon lottery regarding...

I just upgraded from a 4890 ,to the gigabyte windforce 670,it is a really nice upgrade ,about inch longer than 4890 but fit my antec 300 ok also the power connectors are on the side ,so that helps ,i know it is more than you said you want to pay ,but just in case ,also why don't you overclock...
No problem ,i understand it is nice to have a card the same or better than others ,but you are still not guaranteed to get a good one next time,could be a ongoing never ending thing,i am just enjoying mine seeing all the nice eye candy, after upgrading my brilliant old faithful 4890,playing...
Seems funny to me why you would dsr it because of the benchmark score ,it is still a decent overclock and it will still play games fine ,i am not criticising you either by the way ,it is just that i have same card get slightly better overclock on core than that but i am running mine on stock...
Yes i think i will remove them ,just in case .I left them at first, thought it would keep the dust off, but think dust would be better than melted plastic.

My old 4890 used to boot to full fans,installed new 670 windforce yesterday,no fan spin at boot (not that I can hear anyway) no coil whine ,really quiet great temps plays all games maxed out ,not bothered overclocking it yet,very nice upgrade.
