***A New Option For All Of Your Spec'rs***

The main reason I didn't go for a bundle was because it included RAM, I could use re-use this from my old build that was bought when the RAM prices were about half of the current prices. So customisability of the bundle would be nice, but I guess it wouldn't be a bundle then anymore and then...

Dell ultra sharp u2713h...anyone own it ?

Although I don't have either one I can tell you that with the U2713H you're paying extra for the wide/extended colour gamut. A feature that if you don't know what it is - you don't need. (it let's the monitor display more colours but, your OS needs to support, the application needs to support...

    Spec me a 27" Monitor sub £200

You're welcome, don't forget to put the brightness on the monitor waaaaay down. It's at 100 by default, the one tftcentral.co.uk got they turned down all the way to 12. What will be comfortable for you depends on your rooms natural lightning but it will be lower than 100 for sure.

Looking to get a second monitor, need a bit of advice please

Yes, this is no problem whatsoever. Tiny little bit more VRAM used and that's about it. So yes, but negligible. Depends on the game, ideally your games support 'Windowed full screen' which has the game covering the main monitor and you being able to click outside the game. Almost all games...

    Spec me a 27" Monitor sub £200

Does he have poor eyesight? Because that resolution at that size of a monitor will make everything (including text) look huge (good if your eyesight is poor) but also not very sharp (pixelated, bad if you have good eyesight). I think the BenQ GW2760HS would serve your father well. At this size...

MITX vs MATX vs ATX Power Consumption

Might be a bit late but just thought back of this thread while running into the new MSI Eco line, motherboards aimed at minimizing power usage and reducing their environmental footprint. TechPowerUp: MSI Goes Black and Green with its ECO Line of Motherboards. Edit: for clarification these...

Spec me. upto 24" upto £250 Monitor

You might run into a bit of a contradiction here. The good quality panels (IPS/VA) that also find their way into TVs are also the ones that don't do 120Hz. That said a new good quality TN-panel is probably quite a step up from your current monitor as it is. All panel types have their strong and...

    Dual monitor stand

I think your options are then limited to the Peerless Dual-Monitor Desktop Mount OcUK 2 Way Monitor Desk Mount AllCam MMS05 Height adjustability on the first two is limited to the range on the small bracket itself. Last option is adjusted on the clamp on the 'pole'. From what I could...

    Dual monitor stand

What would you consider reasonably priced? Does it need to be a stand or can it be a desk clamp like the SilverStone ARM22SCM Dual Arm Desktop Clamp Mount or even a wall mounted monitor arm? Do you need height adjustability?

    STEAM Big Picture build (TV)

If you're looking for a really simple system the AMD5350 is the way to go imo. So 44fps in Bastion according to fudzilla. It's also very low power going by the hardware.info power tests. 9.6W idle usage compared to 33.6W of the lowest power Intel Core processors. On load this jumps to...

    Processor or GPU?

Just a headsup, now that the mining hype cooled down you can find the 280x second hand for 270x prices. Including warranty and all, it's what I picked for my girlfriends new PC. It would allow you to not pick a good CPU or GPU but just get both. (Wouldn't get other things second hand however)

    Complete Gaming PC ~£1000

Hello, Trying to assemble a game PC for roughly £1000 for my girlfriend and this is for all parts (including peripherals). Most of it will be from OCUK some will be from elsewhere for various reasons, I'm from the Netherlands so I can take some hardware in my suitcase when I'm visiting. The...

MITX vs MATX vs ATX Power Consumption

May I ask why given the relatively simple tasks you want to do on it you're looking at S1150 motherboards and a separate graphics card? If you're looking for an always on low power solution for these tasks wouldn't the AM1 platform already suffice? It's really cheap too, if you can sell the...

    £200 24" 1080 Monitor

Excuse my ignorance, but does the xbox come with VGA only? Might limit the options somewhat if you want DVI, HDMI and VGA. Is DVI the only connection option on your videocard? No HDMI/Displayport? If the (vertical) angle differs between your uses you do probably want to look at IPS monitors...

    2nd Monitor Advice

There's basically two problems with using a TV as a monitor. 1) Input lag B) Chroma subsampling The first isn't much a problem for what you're planning to do with it. The second might be, the AVS forums chroma subsampling thread is worth a read. It's quite hard to find a television that...

What's changed in the last 5 years?

Think the biggest changes in colour critical monitors (*VA/IPS panels) have been in efforts to reduce ghosting making them somewhat suitable for gaming, making the monitors more affordable and making LED-backlit monitors an option. Since you are using an extended gamut monitor I assume that...

    Eyefinity Hardware - Quickie! :D

Also, the 7850 is an awesome value for money card aimed at gaming at 1920x1080 - not eyefinity setups where you most likely need to turn down the graphics settings quite a bit in any modern game. So yes with the advice above you'll have an eyefinity setup, whether it gives a good experience...

    Hazro hz27wc vanished?

The DGM is a better match for the HZ27WD, more inputs but also more input lag. The Hazro's have better contrast ratio's however.

    HDMI Supported Resolutions Confusion

When I looked into this over a year ago I found out that resolutions over 1920x1200 were only supported via a HDMI connector not found on any consumer electronics. Videocards with the exception of the AMD Radeon 7xxx series also didn't support resolutions over 1920x1200 via HDMI (NVIDIA's latest...
